Well done MD Anderson Cancer Center! We need to be focusing on the whole patient and overall wellness in addition to care for the cancer treatment itself. I have far too many family members and friends who have had to battle this terrible disease. The challenges after remission are many. I especially appreciate the quote by Michael Roth, MD, medical director of MD Anderson's survivorship program and co-director of the AYA Oncology Program saying, "We have a duty to care for [cancer survivors], not just during treatment but after." We need to help clinicians help their patients at all stages of treatment. Thank you for making this a priority!

Using AI to take out the administrative burden and enable more human touch between pharmacists and customers is meaningful.

The clinician shortage has been a macro healthcare trend for several years. The AMA predicts there will be a shortage of over approximately 124,000 physicians by 2034. The recent pandemic exacerbated this challenge. We know that by reducing the administrative burden for clinicians, the propensity for them to enjoy their work and be retained longer increases tremendously. In the study cited here, it is said that "for the average hospital nursing team, one meaningful interaction per team member per month can reduce nurse turnover by 7%." It also says that "recognizing accomplishments and celebrating team members’ personal milestones help team members feel valued and engaged." We need to do more to improve the clinician experience and deliver work conditions that these caring people expected when they chose to study medicine in school. There are several approaches sited here, and I would add the use of technology and AI key enabler to an improved experience to the list. With #AI being a major discussion point in almost all executive interactions in #healthcare, the points noted in this article are very timely. While everyone wants to quickly get to innovation with AI, the importance of starting with use cases with low risks and high rewards is a great reminder of how to gain traction with early rewards. Other points of note are the significance of #trust, #collaboration, and remembering that AI is not a silver bullet. For those embarking on this journey, there are helpful pointers here to consider.

The future smart home is constantly evolving. The number of devices and data today is advancing at unprecedented rates. We can use this information to help people participate in their own wellness, predict and personalize their care. In addition, we have to have strong guardrails on privacy and security.
