As a #transitioningservicemember, have you ever wondered what it means when a company says they value military experience? At RecruitMilitary, we've heard a lot of answers to that question, but we always come back to one key differentiator: effective companies versus companies with the best of intentions. To truly value #militaryexperience, companies need to do two things. First, they need to have an open mind and be willing to learn about how a veteran's experiences differ from those in their industry. Second, they need to take just 10 minutes to have a conversation as a part of that education process. Values are often reflected in how we spend our time and money. By taking the time to talk with a veteran whose experience you don't understand, you demonstrate that you truly value their #transferableskills. At the end of the day, companies that prioritize education and understanding are the ones that will successfully attract and retain veteran talent. #veteranshelpingveterans

Also note that when you book that 10 minutes on your calendar, it will most likely turn into twenty or even thirty minutes. We start with the thirty and go from there. America's military service members, veterans, and their family members truly are America's finest, and it's an honor and privilege to be a small part of their journey.

One reason I speak to the difference between companies being "Veteran Friendly" and "Veteran Ready".

Absolutely especially when it comes to applying for retirement especially when an individual was employed for 12 years with department of energy service as a veteran with 12 years of military service??

These are two critical steps for hiring effectively from the military community, Rachel! Thanks for highlighting them!
