Seeing proclamations like the one issued by the President reminds me of how far American has come with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and whole of health care. Vietnam Veterans faced challenges that my GWOT peers and I did not. And America is better for it. And I'm thankful for those who were policy advocates so that #soldiers like those in my own family, could benefit from their efforts.
I'm glad that steps to rectify a homophobic culture are being taken to right the wrongs for the #LGBTQ+ community who served.

In a groundbreaking proclamation, the President issued a pardon for servicemembers who had previously faced court martial under Article 125, which specifically targeted members of the LGBTQ+ community. As we wrap up PRIDE month, we hope you'll join us in celebrating this landmark legislation. https://ow.ly/5SiA50Sr7lH#veterans#military#pride
Tomorrow is Veterans Day, and our CEO Coleman Nee has written a special blog post about its origins and some of the champions and advocates who fought for justice, civil rights, and inclusion for veterans with disabilities.

Steven - I am sure you really believe what you are saying but your information is inaccurate. "Wokeism" is rampant in the military and getting worse. As far as "wokeism" as a term of art not being explicitly Marxist that's fair, but some of its pillars like critical theory, explicitly are. When Special Operations Command (Europe) proudly proclaims "pride week" with LGBTQ+! oriented mandatory fun - yes, that happened, and sailors are forced to watch drag queens performing on an aircraft carrier...we have gone TOO FAR. And what do you really think happens if someone just doesn't want to participate in these events (which are obviously sanctioned at flag officer level) - do you really think it will have no effect on their career? This isn't about the military simply reflecting broad trends in our society. This is a calculated effort to normalize the extreme views of a vocal minority. This is not a hidden agenda. Read some of the articles and opinions of our military leadership- senior and junior- about masculinity (bad), diversity (when skin color based - great, diversity of thought, um no) etc. I am not recommending military service to anyone until these "leaders" are gone.
I believe Congressman Banks is wrong. The problem isn't actually "wokeism" in the military. DEI programs are not overly burdensome or onerous. The problem is hyperpartisan claims that DEI programs are overly burdensome or onerous by the political right. This negatively influences some potential recruits who don't have accurate information about these programs.
Honoring Our Heroes: The Impact of Expert Testimony on Veterans' Rights
#VeteranRights#ExpertWitness#MilitaryExpert
As we approach Memorial Day weekend, a time to honor and remember those who have died in service to our country, also reminds us of the continuous struggle to ensure justice and equality for all servicemembers. This Memorial Day, we reflect not only on the sacrifices made by our servicemembers but also on the battles fought within our courts to uphold their rights.
One notable case is that of Major Margaret Witt, whose challenge to the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in 2008 exemplifies the powerful role of expert witnesses in shaping military justice.
Experts like Dr. Aaron Belkin, a political science professor specializing in military and gender studies, Dr. Nathaniel Frank, a historian with expertise in LGBTQ military history, and Dr. Gregory Herek, a psychologist specializing in sexual orientation and military cohesion, provided pivotal testimony.
Their insights revealed the positive impact of inclusive service on unit cohesion and morale, leading to a landmark ruling that mandated a higher evidentiary standard for discharges based on sexual orientation.
On this Memorial Day, let's reflect on the sacrifices of those who served and the ongoing efforts to uphold their memories through the legal system.

#Trump wants to change the American military forces
For several months now, Donald Trump’s program has been available to read. It's the famous Project 2025, a set of guidelines written for him by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation. The nearly 1000-page text aims to reshape the United States according to authoritarian, nationalist, and Christian ideals.
Among the various aspects touched upon by Project 2025 are the armed forces, which are accused of being weak, overly political, woke, and even Marxist.
To correct these tendencies, the Republican plan would eliminate all policies dedicated to inclusivity and diversity, for example:
- Abolishing offices and personnel for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Expelling transgender people.
- Prohibiting the Department of Defence from covering travel costs for troops seeking reproductive care, including abortion services.
- Eliminating "Marxist indoctrination programs and divisive critical race theory" (without providing any examples of such initiatives).
These proposals would likely weaken the armed forces: increasing discrimination and inequities within the military would only compromise its effectiveness and cohesion.

First things first, John, thank you. You truly move the needle of justice for all. Your advocacy is crucial, and you show that together we are stronger.
Now to the matter of making one's life purpose to "stop the teaching of Critical Race Theory in the military" this statement is idiocy coming from a place ignorance. The military teaches how to grieve discrimination, teamwork, synergy and perhaps workplace civility. During monthly observances we may recognize struggles and accomplishments of different demographics to reach equality. That's is folks.
At no point the enlisted workforce is taught Critical Race Theory, BlackCrit, LatinCrit, AsianCrit, QueerCrit, or intersectionality. Moreover, the fact that SOME confused DEI efforts with these academic teachings is evidence of their ignorance of these theories, and worse how far removed they truly are from the people they represent.
From a place of ignorance it is easy to subscribe to the Culture of Poverty Theory, support systems of oppression, and become complicit to injustice. This approach is dangerous to our nation. It becomes a national security threat to continue to perpetuated ignorance and to supress information that helps the nation heal and move to the founding fathers goals of a "perfect union." Are we not "United States?". This means unity not division. DEI doesn't divide us, ignorance does.
Let's understand what we are rejecting, fighting or neglecting. #Together we are better and knowledge is power. If a government official truly care about making a difference in service members' life, they should look at their quality of life, work life balance, command climate, and mental health services and support.

Senators Stennis and Vinson would have agreed with this move, followed by full segregation of the Armed Forces, which was their oft-stated goal. Imagine an Aircraft Carrier with each berthing compartment designated by race. They did. “I continue to give 100% toward this grave and serious threat to our Armed Forces (integration)…and will strive to preserve your boy’s right to serve in an all-White unit” (Stennis to constituent, 1955). If we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.
