The global physical economy runs on value chains, all steps in production from extraction of raw materials through intermediate manufacturing and final distribution. The epochal challenges of our material world - be they growth, resiliency, security, sustainability, or human rights - are value chain problems. World Customs Organization Deputy Secretary General Ricardo Treviño Chapa highlights well the key importance of scalable understanding of supply chains to economic growth and national security. Modern technology, including AI, presents novel opportunities to understand and manage complex global value chains at scale. We are fortunate to have new tools to work with and understand an increasingly fragmented world.

Not since the cold war have geopolitics played such a central role in #supplychain decisions. Now, as my co-founder @Evan Smith notes: "the drumbeat of new rules, regulations and tariffs is complicating trade compliance efforts, especially for larger companies that sit atop a supply chain that can include hundreds of thousands of suppliers."
