Today, I am thrilled to announce that Blue Shield of California has been named by the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) as the health plan to provide its Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) offering along with Included Health. This is the first time in two decades CalPERS has selected a new administrator for the PPO plan and we are excited that our commitment to expanding access and bringing down costs through innovative initiatives, partnerships and products earned us this opportunity. Paul Markovich, CEO of Blue Shield* Dear Mr. Markovich, Your grievance system ineffective. Despite my letters to you, which have gone unanswered, Here are the key issues: 1. I lost my internist of 12 years due to your company's incompetency. 2. Your staff is rude and untrained in conflict resolution, exacerbating issues. 3. There is no dedicated grievance handler. 4. Numerous representatives paraphrase inaccurately, preventing corrections before grievanceare issued. 5. I have receivedinfuriatingly inaccurate letters from Blue Shieldexpressing how grievances are handled becomes a grievance in and of itself. This process is exhausting and frustrating. 6. Even a professional writer like myself encounters communication problems with your personnel. 7. Relonda was the only one who understood my situation after I ended up in the emergency room due to an unhandled health issue 8. Companies are biased toward Eastern Europeans at the top, which is notable. How is it that a Russian like yourself has a better chance of moving in a company than a Hispanic woman with a UCLA MFA? I have filed a complaint with Attorney General Bob Ronka regarding these matters. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
