Here are 5 questions to guide your research synthesis & get you generating new insights: ✅ What Factors Are Broadly Agreed Upon? ➡  While it's essential for you to build upon existing knowledge, conducting research on topics that are already well-established should be approached with caution. ✅ Where Do The Disagreements Lie? ➡ Identifying disagreements helps highlight knowledge gaps and informs future research directions. ✅ Which Key Theories Are Well-Accepted? ➡ Pay attention to key theories because they’ll need to be part of your theoretical framework. Doing so will enable you to engage in scholarly dialogue and build upon existing theoretical foundations. ✅ What Research Contexts Have Been Covered? ➡ Keep track of geographical, temporal, social, cultural, organizational, and population contexts in the literature to avoid redundancy, identify research gaps, and inform your study design. ✅ Which Methodological Approaches Are Most Common? ➡ Reviewing prior methodological designs will help you facilitate comparison across studies, avoid replication, and address limitations and challenges. When you're reviewing a paper, keep in mind that what you see is just the tip of the iceberg for the project. Behind every paper, there's a rich story—filled with sweat, equity, dreams, and time. It's crucial to acknowledge and respect that story. Offer constructive feedback and how the paper can be improved, even if the paper falls short of expectations. By doing so, we contribute to fostering a positive climate within the academic community. I believe that marketing disciplines require this bridging and transition more than others do. As a PhD candidate looking to shape my future career strategy, I’ve observed a notable trend of publishing marketing works without considering their impact on society, the industry, or services. Should I merely follow this trend? I think each research project should address the “so what” question for various areas, including the environment, society, industry, individual well-being, world peace, and quality of life, among others. What should early career researchers focus on? Should we follow the trend or forge a different path? Is it acceptable for us to take risks?
