In the past four years, our youth champions have hosted intergenerational dialogues on climate and development across the UK. What did we learn? That young people are optimistic about the transition ahead and hungry for leadership and action. Considering multiple possible futures has given young people a sense of agency and hope. A key insight from these dialogues revealed the need for an economic shift: ‘𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵’ and '𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵-𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮 “𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴”'. This presents an opportunity for the UK to lead this agenda and show how to make better long-term decisions and exemplify '𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘣𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.'
