Exciting news in the world of causality! PS: Decision-making is always causal. Professor Rina Dechter (UCI), in collaboration with a team of causal experts, that includes Judea Pearl's former student Elias Bareinboim among others, has secured a $5 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. The focus? Enhancing AI-based causal decision-making, study essential aspects of causal decision-making to ensure autonomous agents are robust, sample-efficient and precise. The team combines deep expertise in probabilistic graphical models, causality and reinforcement learning. See the comments to learn more!

This is a little past due. Better late than never. One of the best parts of my job and being an Applied Researcher at Capital One, is getting work with incredible faculty, post-docs and grad students on groundbreaking research. A little while ago I got the opportunity to talk about two such papers with Sam Charrington at TWIML. Both papers were presented at [ICML] Int'l Conference on Machine Learning. We covered two important topics - how to scale transformers on very large graphs, and how to derive human intelligible interpretations of embeddings.
