Forty years ago to this very day on October 1st 1981 I started my professional career as a computer operator at Burroughs Machines at the tender age of 17, I remember it as if it was yesterday. In those days I worked on the B6800 mainframe that filled a room the size of a tennis court and had a massive 6MB of processing power…….today, by contrast, my IPhone has 3GB RAM and 128GB of storage. How the world has changed. I have been very lucky in my career to have worked with some amazing forward thinking organisations such as Burroughs, Unisys, Anheuser-Busch, PwC and IBM but it is my family at EY and the journey that we have been on together to build a better working world and now in this next phase of an amazing career working with our People Advisory team putting Human@Centre of all we do that makes me most proud.

1yHi Norman, interesting stuff. In 2021-22, the overall migration rate of talent moving from one state in the USA to another stood at 8.7%—just modestly higher than the 2020-21 rate of 8.4%, which was the lowest domestic migration rate in three-quarters of a century. We are using tech to break down the barriers to moving ALL talents. Writing something now about similar and its relevance to St Patrick (a man from Cumbria :-)
