How Blake went from 2 years unemployed to the CSM job of his dreams (without networking) in 3 months. Blake was a California CSM; kind, laid-back, but unemployed. He was experienced, but got laid off like many others. He couldn’t land a job for 2 years. Final round after final round ended in rejection. • He was scraping by. • His confidence was crushed. • His savings were completely gone. • He had to reach out to his parents to help him; he hated doing that. Discouraged, lost, and out of options. He took action. Because Blake knew he couldn't do this alone anymore, was discouraged by the rejections, and needed someone with real experience to finally end this job hunt. He reached out and we started that F.I.R.E framework to make it happen. We: 1. Had a tech recruiter re-write his resume, cover, letter, and Linkedin (not a CSM #guru who hasn’t done the job in years, or outsourcing to resume writing companies ) 2. We smashed his self-doubt and got his confidence to where it needed to be; mojo back! 3. Worked on assignments on QBR’s together; it helps that I do QBR’s in 2024 (unlike some people) 4. Used the auto apply tool to get interviews while he slept 5. Leveraged the two best CSM job boards in the industry to save him time We got to 3 final rounds together. But got rejected. But we don’t stop. EVER. (we also don’t send loom videos to CSM managers or DM’s asking for a referral or a coffee chat 😛) Then we got it The gold we were searching for -Remote CSM role -In an industry they WANTED to work in. -Ended a 2 year unemployment drought The best part? It wasn’t that he got the job. No. It was that he walked into his parents place and told them he was able to move out. They were proud he stuck it out. "DM people on LinkedIn for a CSM job” is probably the worst advice i’ve heard. It’s also expensive, intrusive, and soul sucking. "you have to network" aka "you have to harass managers, CSM's, and busy professionals for a coffee chat” Stop it. Apply to the jobs like everyone else; there’s a reason the company posted it. Respect their process.

Dear Applicant, We regret to inform you... We appreciate your time... Thank you for your interest... You have not been selected... We'll keep your details on file... We've already filled this position... There were a large number of candidates... We're moving forward with other applicants... We selected a candidate with more experience... We're delighted to offer you a full-time position with us. You can be rejected hundreds of times & still land a job. Rejection is part of the process. Not the end of your story. Keep going. STAY HARD!

How the LinkedIn job search crushes your spirit (and what to do about it) "I'm not qualified enough." "They probably have a better background." "I won't even bother. I won't make it." These are some of the common things we tell ourselves as we browse LinkedIn for job postings. We see all those job listings and feel like our chances are slim. "1000 applications" FML you think. We let our confidence get drained away. But • How many of those job applications are actually qualified for the role?    • How many are applying just because they can? The fact is, we don't know. So why should we let an inflated number of job applications disqualify us? Why should we give up on a shot we never even took? Don't let your perceived lack of qualifications or other people's application numbers hold you back. Keep shooting your shot, Let the recruiters make the call. You never know what could happen.

The CSM #GURU’s who tell you the “secret sauce” to get a job in 2024 is networking are the same retired influencers who haven’t done a QBR, a renewal call, or job hunted in YEARS. Networking isn’t the most effective way to get a job. Despite what they sell you, tell you..trick you? I've spent 5 years as a CSM and helped 78 clients get a job without networking. You know actual raw data (I was in my PhD in Neuroscience, I know a thing or two about numbers and correlations) Anyways…. The problem with networking is how people are instructed to go about it: 1. Send a connection request to hundreds of CSM’s and Managers (who actually hate this and get these msg’s every single week) 2. Then you ask for a coffee chat or send a loom video 3. Then you get on a call, pitch yourself and ask for a referral 4. Then when they say they aren’t hiring, you reach out in a few weeks to ask again. You do this over and over until you’ve wasted months of your life reaching out to strangers to use them to your own benefit for a job. But i’ll go even further, Let’s say someone DOES refer you into a job, and you get an interview. Here’s where everything goes wrong… So you get that 1 interview right; you’ve put ALL your eggs in one basket. You still have to: • Beat out all the other candidates • Go through 5 rounds of interviews • Showcase why you are the best candidate • Do the QBR or assignments • Beat out the candidates again, round by round • And mathematically you are likely NOT going to get the role Your dreams get crushed and you don’t understand what happened. “I got a referral, I did everything right” But you forgot about one thing; the person referring you. 1. Do they even have influence? 2. Are they even a high performer? 3. Are they on a PIP? 4. Does management even value their opinion 5. Can you even perform the job Even worse, what is their response to HR asking "how did you enjoy working with them" and they have nothing to say, no proof, nothing; just "they were nice to speak to on Google Meet"? You have the audacity to ask strangers to put their reputation on the line for you; to gain a job. Nah, you’re just lazy; or listening to too many Guru’s. Do the work. Apply like your life depends on it. Because it DOES. My client who secured a 6-figure job said it best below 😘

I think about death a lot. (maybe I'm not alone) When people ask me how I'm doing I always say the same thing "i'm alive, what else can I complain about" You have a job, a family, errands, chores, and the list goes on, and, on and on...... You're chasing a life you want. So much so that you forget to live the one you HAVE. I've been guilty of this. 5 years ago I would have laughed in your 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗘 if you told me I would be doing what I get the opportunity to do. Work remotely and help people change their lives. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle, followers, titles, and other vanity metrics...and forget to enjoy the journey. So, today on this Sunday, take a moment to do something that makes you happy. I lost the company $500,00 and then they fired me. I was a project manager for the first time. I was super new to the company and was in my first real responsible role. I had to organize a nation wide project. I lost the packages and things weren’t delivered on time. I was flustered. People got the wrong items. More anxiety. My boss was on me, hour by hour. I was in over my head. Overwhelmed was an understatement. I managed to figure things out; but it was too late. I was a goner. The boss called me into his office. I knew what was coming. Sat me down, and said “Noah, we’re going to let you go today; you’ll do great elsewhere but not here” I went back to my desk, every thought in my mind an individual can have. I had. Do I yell, do I smash the computer, do I just sit down and cry? No. I quietly packed my things and went to my car. I called my wife but she already knew when I couldn’t speak. She sat on the phone with me as I cried while driving home. Not knowing how I would pay the bills or what I would do next. She said “You’ll figure this out”. And I did. It’s not how many times you get knocked down. It really is, how many times you GET BACK UP! That is why I tell people life is all mental.
