Kiwis'! I'm back home whilst my UK Ancestry Visa clears during November. Love to shoot some content with some football nuts and if there is anyone in the Computer Vision / AR tech world, lets sync up. We have a major new product release next year and happy to show interested parties under the hood. I'll be hanging in Christchurch at my parents house but Welly or Auckland is only a small flight away. This is Ben Reynolds giving me a lesson in NYC from earlier in the year.

HealthNow raises $3.4M from revered investors in the ecosystem. It’s a great story emerging because the more successful HealthNow becomes as it scales, the healthier and happier workforces become. If you’re in HR, People and Culture etc (Australia and New Zealand) and looking to enhance your wellness strategy check out HealthNow.
Congrats to Steven Zinsli and the HealthNow team for their $3.4m seed raise! HealthNow is a health allowance platform solving how Kiwi access employee wellbeing and health benefits - providing a simple and easy paywave approach, without the hassle of entering expense claims or employee reimbursement. They are on a mission to improve employee health outcomes and help organisations foster a happier and healthier workforce. They’re well on their way, having already onboarded multiple high-profile organisations and issuing over 10,000 to employees across Aotearoa. In the words of IV Partner, Barnaby Marshall, “As part of our due diligence process, we pitched the HealthNow platform to our network - including the Head of People at one of the big four accounting firms. It’s not every day that you get such positive, resounding feedback from prospective customers when we talk about a startup’s value proposition. That, along with the team's resilience and vision, got us excited to lead a $3.4m investment round.” We’re stoked to have invested alongside our friends at Previously Unavailable and the NZ Fintech Fund and are excited for HealthNow's next growth phase (and IV team HealthNow cards 🙌). It’s men’s mental health month. Mental health is a buzz word until you lose it, then it becomes very scary. Having reality warped by thoughts with no off button is a frightening experience. When I was recently struggling I read John Kirwan’s book on depression. I’m not much of a rugby fan but I found the book helpful hearing another story sharing darker moments when one feels helpless. A friend also took me out for lunch and shared his experience battling demons and bouncing back after I shared that I was taking meds. He had planned to take a one way swim and is now cycling around Europe. The lunch was therapeutic. So I’m writing this to the people skimming through battling in silence at the moment reminding you that you’re not alone, and like Kirwan’s book says, there is hope by accepting there is a problem and doing something about it. I’ve been moved by all the support that has come my way since putting my hand up and asking for help. If you’re nervous don’t be, most people are more understanding than you think. One last push! This brilliant campaign led by Tracey Lee is looking likely we will see a record turnout from engaged Kiwi expats in the election. It is super easy to enrol and vote online. >> https://lnkd.in/dTKv3yT #TheMeddler #newzealand #elections #diaspora #expats #referendum

With all the modelling on the CV19, remember that line from The Big Short “for every 1% unemployment goes up, 40000 people die in the US”. Found this clip from a few years back where the BBC fact checked that claim. https://lnkd.in/gCvxV_y

The ultimate startup analogy. TL;DR: Article talks about strong corporate governance, "unsentimental" use of funds and team culture. "Their annual revenue is less than Surrey County Cricket Club. They have the smallest population of any of the 12 Test nations. Yet, on Sunday, the New Zealand cricket team will line up for their second consecutive World Cup final, ranked third in the world in one-day-international cricket and second in Test matches."

Sport provides unscripted drama you could never dream up. It gets you jumping out of your seat with dopamine highs hugging strangers one minute and cowering in the corner with nausea the next. I was a gutted fan at Lords yesterday watching my team who are selected from the smallest population out of the Test playing nations compete against the inventor of the game at their home ground whilst pushing the game into unchartered waters that will be talked about for decades to come. We love using sporting and cricket analogies at Formalytics given ball tracking technology was made famous by cricket. Sport like startups are unforgiving merciless constructs and despite all the planning, talent and hard work, some days the market just says not your turn this time, and thats life. #sport #drama #fanengagement

4yGeoff Cooper while not specifically your space; as two data guru's I think there could be some synergy here. Nick Teulon if you want to feel jealous, ask about his recent trip to Japan :-p
