It’s men’s mental health month. Mental health is a buzz word until you lose it, then it becomes very scary. Having reality warped by thoughts with no off button is a frightening experience. When I was recently struggling I read John Kirwan’s book on depression. I’m not much of a rugby fan but I found the book helpful hearing another story sharing darker moments when one feels helpless. A friend also took me out for lunch and shared his experience battling demons and bouncing back after I shared that I was taking meds. He had planned to take a one way swim and is now cycling around Europe. The lunch was therapeutic. So I’m writing this to the people skimming through battling in silence at the moment reminding you that you’re not alone, and like Kirwan’s book says, there is hope by accepting there is a problem and doing something about it. I’ve been moved by all the support that has come my way since putting my hand up and asking for help. If you’re nervous don’t be, most people are more understanding than you think. The ultimate startup analogy. TL;DR: Article talks about strong corporate governance, "unsentimental" use of funds and team culture. "Their annual revenue is less than Surrey County Cricket Club. They have the smallest population of any of the 12 Test nations. Yet, on Sunday, the New Zealand cricket team will line up for their second consecutive World Cup final, ranked third in the world in one-day-international cricket and second in Test matches."

Sport provides unscripted drama you could never dream up. It gets you jumping out of your seat with dopamine highs hugging strangers one minute and cowering in the corner with nausea the next. I was a gutted fan at Lords yesterday watching my team who are selected from the smallest population out of the Test playing nations compete against the inventor of the game at their home ground whilst pushing the game into unchartered waters that will be talked about for decades to come. We love using sporting and cricket analogies at Formalytics given ball tracking technology was made famous by cricket. Sport like startups are unforgiving merciless constructs and despite all the planning, talent and hard work, some days the market just says not your turn this time, and thats life. #sport #drama #fanengagement
