🔋🌍 Technology company, Wärtsilä, announced the renewal of its five-year maintenance agreement with Moroccan state-owned utility, Office national de l'electricité et de l'eau potable - Branche Electricité (ONEE). This agreement covers two power plants situated in Tan Tan and Dakhla, which collectively generate 169.5 MW of power. The comprehensive maintenance agreement includes the supply of spare parts, major overhauls, and technical support to optimize the total cost of ownership for Wärtsilä's assets. Scatec, a leading renewable energy firm, has signed a Heads of Terms agreement with Yara Clean Ammonia for the sale of renewable ammonia from Egypt. This significant development marks a step towards fostering green energy initiatives in the region. Additionally, Scatec ASA has signed a letter of intent with the European Investment Bank (EIB) to secure long-term project financing. In collaboration with the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) and Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), Scatec aims to develop up to 480 MW of renewable energy. The project will include a 240 MW electrolyser facility dedicated to producing renewable hydrogen in Egypt. This initiative is set to achieve an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons of renewable ammonia, serving as feedstock for MOPCO's ammonia manufacturing facility in Damietta. Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, highlighted the importance of this agreement in supporting the country's national low carbon hydrogen policy.
