Thanks to our Texas Advisory Council for joining us in-person today! This important group of supporters leverage their ideas, networks, and energy to share information about the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and our critical programs of work to keep children safe. We also thank our speakers: Leemie from our Missing Children Division who did an incredible job covering their many programs and projects, as well as special guest Tori Algiere from the Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center who shared information about their victim & family services in response to harms against children and the importance of prevention and awareness messaging in schools and by parents. We look forward to the engagement and outreach efforts by this team in 2024, and all the ways we can push forward NCMEC's mission in every community. 28 years ago today, Amber was kidnapped while riding her bike with her brother just outside of Dallas, Texas. Her body was found about a week later. This tragic loss of life led to the creation of the AMBER Alert system which now operates internationally to ensure a quick and speedy response - as well as leveraging the public’s eyes and ears - when children go missing.
Today, marks 28 years since Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered in a case that shook the nation and changed the way we search for abducted children. We continue to honor the life of the 9-year-old girl. Her murder remains unsolved to this day: https://lnkd.in/e33a9rrv
