Huge appreciation post for COL.Reginald Evans. A leader, a team player, stud and friend. Two years ago, Reggie took over as the Garrison Commander for at the time, Fort Gordon. During his tenure, he oversaw millions of dollars of renovations, worked shoulder to shoulder with his civilian employees as well as the soldiers that fell under him. He also led the team as we transitioned to renaming our installation, Fort Eisenhower- no small thing! He and his battle buddy, CSM (R) Aaron Rose made it look effortless because they are BOTH that good! COL.Evans made things look easy and I literally never saw him sweat. Today, COL.Evans relinquished his command and is now headed to the National Capital Region. If you saw how packed the room was today, you’d know that THAT is a true testament of how respected he is and how many folks absolutely love him. Mad love and admiration go out to Reggie and it’s safe to say our paths will 100000% cross again! Big bonus- got to get my arms around some of my favorite humans and see my friend, Reggie, be celebrated! Last night at GAP MINISTRIES OF AUGUSTA INC we partnered with two BE-U-TEE-ful organizations, Project Refresh - Augusta and Pernell’s Hope Ministry to “shower” our clients with a hit of love. Ms.Pernell served 40 home cooked meals (baked chicken, pasta salad, rice, green bean casserole, buns and dessert) and Brittany Hutto’s team were able to provide over 25 showers. On an unbearably hot day, there is nothing better than a meal made with love and a refreshing shower. I am beyond thankful for these folks and blessed to call them friends. #csra #projectrefresh #pernellshopeministry #GAP #collaborationisthekeytosuccess

Massive appreciation post to the EPIC CSRA First Responders. At one point, I had ALL 3 (police, fire and paramedics) at GAP MINISTRIES OF AUGUSTA INC and with each and every client, they were thorough, kind, professional and showed tremendous care. The heat is oppressive and I am personally seeing some incredibly sad situations. Thank you is literally not enough so I’m going to sing their praises and hope people pass that sentiment on to each and every local elected official. Grateful for these hardworking studs and studdettes in Augusta, GA. #firstresponders #csra #appreciatethemsodangmuch

5 minute read alert! June at GAP MINISTRIES OF AUGUSTA INC was another doozy! We celebrated 45 years of love, compassion, empathy and growth. In June, our food pantry served 961 visits from people experiencing food insecurity including 350 walking bags distributed to people with nowhere to cook. Volunteers served the other 611 visits by shopping with each household to get the groceries those families can use. We try our best to stock different varieties of food and ensure that we have some fresh produce and frozen meat to offer each week. Our health product programs continue to grow. Our diaper bank supplied 720 packages of a week's worth of diapers to families who cannot afford the cost of diapers but want to keep their children healthy. They also supplied an additional 228 packages the last week of June since we will be closed on Thursday, July 4. Volunteers break the large boxes of diapers into the allotted amounts for a week based on the size of diapers. This takes many trips to Costco, both loading and unloading. It also takes many hands to package the products. The same kind of volunteer support is needed to package our adult incontinence products. This program supplied 211 packages of product to adults who cannot stretch their budgets for this expensive need. Our period product program supplied 211 clients with supplies they and their families need each month. We are continually looking for grants to help cover the high cost of these 3 programs. Our birth certificate volunteers broke a record in June seeing over 60 clients two weeks in a row. In June, they saw 209 clients, got back 76 birth certificates, gave out 71 and sent off 91 new applications. We see quite a crowd of people each week waiting patiently for their name to be called. The process to request a birth certificate takes a lot of time for each individual. Our photo ID drivers transported 30 people to the DDS in June. Each person has a unique story and does not always have adequate documentation to get an ID. 22 people received their photo ID. Our incredible nurses worked with 195 visits from people unable to afford their prescription medication in June. These nurses show each person they work with compassion and kindness. They work with pharmacies to keep our costs down while working with clients to make sure they have a way to get to that pharmacy. All of the people we meet each week have their own unique story and no two are alike. We give our time and our hearts to those who come for help. but when we leave for the day, we can return to our air conditioned cars and homes to get out of the heat. Imagine facing each day without having a place to cool off. We pray that those who come will feel more hopeful because of the services they receive at GAP. I continue to be beyond appreciative for having the best job on the planet. #JUNEatGAP #compassioninaction

Local CSRA folks- please share! Great information about events on Fort Eisenhower. The Fort Eisenhower MWR team is absolutely the hardest working group of folks and they always put on an incredible 4th of July event. Thank you! #shareworthy #greatinformation #mwr #forteisenhower

Lisa-Ann Wheeler did it again! Another hugely successful event at the Department of Public Health. Project Refresh - Augusta , Dismas Charities Inc. and so many other “helper” organizations came together to donate clothing, food, resources and love. Dominik Cartrel Toaste was there serving “Gods Grits” and everyone looked so happy. Was it hot?! Yes! But was it worth every second? DOUBLE yes! Always an honor to represent my organization, GAP MINISTRIES OF AUGUSTA INC and see some of my favorite humans! Well done! Golden Harvest Food Bank Brittany Hutto Angela Bakos Robyn A.
