Today I had the privilege of participating in a thought-provoking webinar that explored the intersection of research, healthcare and diversity. The webinar was facilitated by Andre Tulloch, a NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) public contributor. Some key takeaways include: · Representation: Meaningful conversations about lived experiences within diverse communities are essential to understanding and addressing mental health disparities. · Cultural Inclusivity: Recognizing our lack of education on cultural inclusivity is the first step. How can we authentically engage with minority communities and ensure transparent involvement strategies? · Funding: Is sufficient funding allocated to public involvement and network building? Addressing race inequalities in research can pave the way for tackling other areas of disparity. · Our Responsibility: Researchers have individual responsibilities. Let's explore deploying our influence for a more powerful, inclusive framework.

#StepsUpdate: Our annual Impact Report has been published! Here's a glimpse of our progress: → In 2023, we won 7 awards and achieved key milestones, including inaugurating the first research centre in Southeast Asia focused on neurodiversity at work. → We obtained B Corp certification, connecting us with global businesses and reinforcing our commitment to inclusive practices. Our efforts also involved building platforms to mainstream neurodiversity and sharing our inclusive business practices through accessible research and training with our corporate partners. In 2024, our multi-stakeholder approach aims to implement significant projects with government, caregiver associations, private sector organisations, and educators, prioritising community input in practice and measurement. 2023 has been an amazing year and we look forward to an even more active and inclusive 2024! Author, Speaker, Patient Advocate, Board Member, Equity Consultant, Researcher, Anti-racism trainer - EMWWAA Award Winner - helping everyone win through equity
Hello everyone. I hope your 2024 is going well. It's unusual for this to be my first post of the year but I have been working behind the scenes, learning, unlearning, relearning and incubating all to ensure that I give my best . Not based on any notion of perfection but on doing better when I know better. It was a privilege to attend the launch of the Voices Of Experts In Our Midst by Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) at the Sennedd yesterday. Listening to the stories of healthcare professionals working so hard in the UK yet sharing their expertise globally so generously - I was inspired beyond words. It was lovely to make new connections and discover new ways to collaborate. The overarching message echoes one of the things I'm passionate about - equity is everyone's business. With respect to health, Covid-19 showed us clearly that inequitable outcomes adversely affect the economy as a whole. This year, I am committed to doing my best to make equity work for everyone. Whether through research advice, teaching, patient advocacy or creating bespoke training content - I want to support organisations who are truly committed to diversity and inclusion. It is time to move beyond rhetoric and take action one small step at a time. That how history is made and I will play my part. Who's with me? #author #speaker #patientadvocate #researcher #consultant #changemaker #equity #diversity #everyvoicecounts #antiracism #takeaction #resilience #impact #speakup #thriving #soarhigh
