What a week it’s been at Worksome! The team really showed up on one of those days that really mattered, and this might be one of the most well-deserved pints in history—at least in Worksome’s history. Thank you for being awesome! 🍻 #dreamteam

The biggest issue separating companies from independent talent is a social construct. Perhaps born from past industry mishaps, companies have traditionally kept independent talent at arm’s length to avoid risk. But this mindset no longer makes sense. Companies can’t afford to ignore the growing independent workforce 🌐 Today, we have new ways to mitigate and manage risk while delivering cost savings and efficiencies. It’s time to close the gap and embrace contractors, freelancers, ICs (or whatever you like to call them), as an integral part of our talent strategy, working seamlessly within our companies. Questions for Organizations to Assess: • How can my external workforce be used as a strategic asset for scalability? • How can we be more inclusive of independent talent within our organization’s culture to get the best work from everyone? • Do we have a complicated experience that is slowing down the productivity of hiring managers and their external workers? • Do we have effective ways to manage the risks associated with engaging external talent? Let’s leverage the power of independent talent and drive our organizations forward

Our 11-year-old son quit his job... 💔 If you were ever in doubt about whether the way we work will continue to change, consider this: Nine months ago, our middle son, suddenly decided to learn how to edit videos. As an avid Fortnite player and a heavy YouTube consumer, I guess he was fascinated by the creativity in the countless Fortnite videos he watched. With no help from us, he mastered a couple of video editing tools (Davinci resolve and Vegas Pro) by watching tutorials online and joining various communities on Discord. Along the way, we discovered that he had - 100% on his own - hired a video editor on Fiverr using $10 of his own money to help with a particularly tricky edit. Initially, we weren’t thrilled about this. It felt somewhat wrong that our 11-year-old was paying other people to work for him. We got over it, he learned the skill himself, set up his own PayPal account, and started charging small fees for editing videos for other Fortnite players he met on Discord. He got really good and even had a couple of retainer agreements with some amateur esports teams. Recently, however, he decided to quit because he no longer found it fun. He made this decision independently and announced his departure in a video to his followers on YouTube. I found out about it when the notification popped up on my phone. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what the lesson is here, but one thing is for sure: the new generations entering the workforce will have a vastly different perspective on learning new skills, how they work, and how naturally they will engage flexible talent. P.S.: As a native Danish speaker, he effectively also learned to speak English from the internet 🤯 #thefutureofworkisnow
The end...💔 (i quit)

The war for talent is very real. If you don't treat your external talent as... well, talent, you've for sure already lost. #talentistalent #dontfuckitup
