"Biosolutions can significantly boost shelf life and food safety, cutting down on food waste. With MICROORC, we aim to discover superior biosolutions that surpass those currently on the market," shares Veronique Zuliani, Director of the Applied R&D team at Novonesis. The #EU has adopted a new regulation on #packaging and packaging waste, and the Norwegian Environment Agency is working on changes to the Norwegian producer responsibility scheme. Marit Kvalvåg Pettersen from Nofima will attend the Norwegian Arendalsuka in mid-August, the most important event in Norway where politicians meet with industry, academia, NGOs, and others to discuss packaging and the new EU regulations on packaging – one of the main focuses of the MICROORC project. In this year's program, Marit Kvalvåg Pettersen will be involved in a panel debate alongside the Norwegian Minister of Climate. Hosted by the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, 50 participants are coming together for dynamic discussions, idea exchanges, and sharing the incredible progress we've made in developing #sustainable solutions to reduce and prevent #food #spoilage and #waste. Plus, we're diving deep into the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen's work within MICROORC, like computational modeling of #shelflife with machine learning and mechanistic models, and conducting comprehensive environmental, social, and economic cost-benefit analyses using a mixed-method multi-criteria assessment approach.
