MGE Mechanical Designer, Steven Gerazounis, recently attended the ASHRAE Annual Conference in Indianapolis, where he had the honor of meeting ASHRAE President Ginger Scoggins, PE, CEM, CxA, LEED-AP, FASHRAE! Steven attended the conference through the prestigious LeaDRS (Leadership Development through Regional Support) program, which allows selected ASHRAE members to shadow their Director and Regional Chair (DRC) at the event.   Highlights from the trip included: Visit to the Citizens Energy Group - District Chilled Water Plant, serving most of downtown Indianapolis; Tour of the Olympic Swimming Team Trials pool setup at Lucas Oil Stadium; and Exploring the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway! #ASHRAE #Engineering #LeadershipDevelopment #LeaDRS #Indianapolis #weengineersuccess

Kicking off the week with an update on our project in the Yorkville section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, 250 East 83rd Street. The 31-story residential tower, Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by The Torkian Group, is nearing completion. The final stages of exterior work is in progress and teams have been focusing on the frontage for the lobby and main entrance along East 83rd Street. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami, set to be the tallest building in Florida and potentially the tallest south of New York City, just broke another record - closing the largest loan in the state’s history. Congratulations to MGE's June Employee of the Month, Collin Saunders, P.E.! Collin is a Senior Mechanical Designer who started his career at MGE as an intern and quickly moved up the ranks including recently passing his PE exam. Collin’s dedication is unquestionable and he's eager to learn. He is not afraid of stepping out of his comfort zone and continues to take on new and challenging tasks. He has completed several large projects including 60 Columbus circle, SMBC at 277 Park, and multiple projects for DCAS. He is also recognized by our client Global Holdings and is frequently their go to engineer for 875 Third Avenue. In addition to his dedication to the success of the company, and his career accomplishments, Collin is an all-around great guy, whom everyone enjoys working with. YIMBY reports that our project 122 Fifth Avenue has been awarded LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The 11-story office building in Union Square, Manhattan yields 300,000 square feet of retail and office space and was recently renovated by STUDIOS Architecture. A key contributor to 122 Fifth’s energy efficiency is Nantum AI, an artificial intelligence software that automates building systems based on real-time occupancy data, minimizing power consumption. The building is also targeting a Fitwel certification in addition to its LEED Gold Certification.
