I'll stick my neck out and say that I think 2024 is going to be the year of curation. We are all too busy, heads down in getting business as usual cracked, but also aware that we should be looking up, that inspiration and new knowledge will have a exponential benefit on our success. Linked In and beyond has been swarmed with the 'ultimate' lists since the year began to solve this problem (some of the best ones I've seen are below, but there are many more) and there are writers and speakers whose name is built on being the person who goes deep on certain topics and surfaces what you really need to know. This is all great. But, isn't it all also incredibly overwhelming? So much inspiration, but what do we do with it? LookUP is leaning into this model of learning and inspiration heavily, but we take it a step further. ⚡ We do the hard yards. Reviewing all of the latest thinking on our specialist areas, but importantly interviewing a vast array of experts in diverse fields to ensure our POV goes far beyond our own. ⚡ We create frameworks so you can actually USE the thinking, and apply it from the second you've attended a session (IRL or online). ⚡ We create collaboration opportunities to embed it. With your peers, with like minded but diverse colleagues from other organisations, we help you entrench the thinking, and we check back in after the sessions to trouble shoot where you've got to. Our next session is on February 20th in London and it uses the exact model above and has a 9.5 feedback score, and a 10 recommend to others score. I have simultaneously co-founded or helped found 4 businesses over the last 3 years, with one key element for acceleration.......community.....specifically Pavilion. You are only as good as the company you keep. Surrounding yourself with the top Growth minded leaders will always help you solve problems faster. Having an understanding and having diversity of mindset on how others tackle similar problems is an advantage, especially for rapid acceleration. I met Fran Brzyski in a Pavilion University Course. I was leading a cohort around the Rising Executive Course (easily one of my favorite courses in Pavilion). “This is the most senior room of Canadian revenue leaders that I’ve ever been in.” - a Toronto startup legend. 😲 Some exciting things are happening in the Toronto Chapter of Pavilion! The Chapter is growing faster than ever and we’re piloting some new event types, which have been extraordinarily well received so far. I’m excited to share some details on what’s coming up! One of our goals has been to provide more targeted in-person experiences. The standard monthly dinners are always popular but cover a range of topics and cater to a range of individuals. A great catch-all but members have asked for more focused events as well. Two weeks ago, we hosted our first Pavilion Toronto Super Dinner, which was an invite-only dinner for 20 of the most senior revenue leaders in the GTA. It was the who’s who of local leaders and I walked away with incredible insights and ideas. The conversation focused on the state of the venture market and its impact on 2024 planning, strategies to maximize efficiency and whether or not we're dealing with a lost generation of talent. 🔥 This is just one example of a more targeted approach we’re taking. Future events will focus on BDR/pipeline leadership, AI in GTM and talent management. I’m excited to announce our next event, which is an Executive and Associate Happy Hour, coming up on March 27th at the beautiful Achievers office in Liberty Village. The event will consist of networking, drinks, appetizers and a panel discussion from local industry legends hosted by Vanessa B.. The topic of focus is Career Navigation and we'll touch on the state of the market, company selection strategies and career growth best practices for executives and early career sellers.
