President, Aetna Medicaid, a CVS Health Company

Kelly Pullen, Executive Director of the Aetna Supporting Kentucky Youth (SKY) Program, recently discussed the state of youth mental health in Kentucky on WEKU. In particular, the discussion focused on the impacts of social media on mental health and strategies for navigating time outside of school, which can be isolating for many children. A recent CVS Health/Morning Consult survey found that 70 percent of parents are more concerned about their children’s mental health than their physical health. As we work to improve youth mental health collectively, we must increase the availability of mental health professionals and resources. The CVS Health Foundation recently awarded a grant to the Bounce Coalition to expand the coalition’s work in delivering community-based mental health trainings across Kentucky. This initiative is crucial in ensuring professionals are equipped to address the unique challenges that social media presents to youth mental health.
