It gives me the immense pleasure to moderate a panel discussion on 💥“Rendering Decisions with Impact: Writing Awards that Meet Parties’ Needs” at the ICC European Conference on Int’l Arbitration opening the Paris Arbitration Week 🇫🇷 Together with global thought leaders: Karl Hennessee, Marieke van Hooijdonk, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab C.Arb, FCIArb and Angeline Welsh KC I will explore the question of what arbitrators can do to provide value through their awards and whether arbitrators can or should take an interest-based approach and not only a rights-based approach when deciding disputes 🧐 I am looking forward to meeting many friends and colleagues on Monday, 1️⃣8️⃣ March at The Westin Paris - Vendôme. For those who may still want to register for the conference here is the link to the registration form ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/dXBe_e3g ICC Arbitration Ulrich Kopetzki #internationalarbitration #icc #iloveparis

Getting out from the many air-conditioned conference rooms I have frequented over the past few days for a walk around Paris with the Campaign for Greener Arbitration. In between admiring the beautiful surroundings (by which I mean the Jardin des Tuileries rather than Andrew Mackenzie’s legs, about which I make no comment) we discussed how we can all do more to reduce the footprint of global arbitration. #internationalarbitration #paw #paris

It was an insightful and informative session. A well delivered lecture on internalization of contracts by Arbitral Tribunals. Let me hear your thoughts on the questions I posed to the facilitator. 1.How do the Unidroit Principles of International Commercial Contracts influence the arbitration process, and what unique challenges or advantages do they present in the context of resolving cross-border disputes through arbitration? 2. What measures can be taken to enhance transparency and accountability in arbitration proceedings, ensuring fairness and trust in the process?

It’s great that we all meet in conferences, build camaraderie, congratulate each other on our work in dispute resolution. But are we making any progress? What are the key indicators that we measure? How do we measure success on a global scale? Here are some stats from ICC. This represents only a small portion of the activity. If we are gonna claim success, we have to be able to measure it. https://lnkd.in/gfwywZZR.
