Chief launched in 2019 to drive more women into positions of leadership and keep them there. The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade jeopardizes the fundamental key to women’s opportunity and gender equity — power. As a company, Chief firmly believes women must continue to hold the power to make their own health and reproductive decisions. That’s why we joined the Don't Ban Equality campaign in May.
Here are the steps we’re taking as a company to protect reproductive rights, as well as the resources we’ve created for the Chief community to navigate this moment as executive leaders:
— We’re creating spaces for Chief Members to hear directly from policy, legal, and HR experts and discuss the implications of the Supreme Court’s decision.
— As part of our Series B fundraise, we committed to donating $1 million annually to nonprofits that align with our mission. Of this, we are committing $250,000 to support organizations fighting to protect women’s reproductive health, rights, and justice. We’ll make donations throughout the year to support those who are disproportionately impacted. We’re making immediate contributions to organizations including Abortion Care Network, National Network of Abortion Funds, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, and In Our Own Voice: National Black Women's Reproductive Justice Agenda.
— We’ve shored up our benefits to ensure that Chief’s own team and immediate family members can continue to access essential reproductive care. We will also reimburse up to $1,000 in out-of-pocket travel expenses, including costs of necessary childcare, for employees and their family members who need to go out of state to obtain essential healthcare, including reproductive and gender-affirming care.
Women have always been powerful — but today, that power is severely threatened. As an organization, we believe it is important to take these actions as part of our pursuit to change the face of leadership.
