Thursday Thoughts... Things are not always as they seem. Balancing career and motherhood can feel overwhelming, but we don't have to let it hold us back. Here's what I've learned along the way: 1. Acknowledge Internal Barriers Women often question their abilities and feel like imposters. Reality: Everyone feels this way at times. Embrace opportunities and remember, growth often comes from pushing through self-doubt. I once had a client, a brilliant engineer and mother of two, who struggled to voice her career aspirations. With support, she reframed her successes in a communal context, transforming her trajectory. 2. Embrace "Fake It 'Til You Make It" Confidence can feel elusive, but taking a "fake it 'til you make it" stance can help. Reality: Even high achievers doubt themselves. Embrace your accomplishments and take opportunities that come your way. I’ve often had to step into roles that felt daunting, but each time, I grew stronger and more capable. 3. Balance Career and Motherhood Managing both roles is a daily juggling act. Reality: Being fully present, whether at work or home, helps mitigate guilt and stress. Focus on quality over quantity. As a founder and mother, I’ve learned to set realistic expectations and prioritize what truly matters. 4. Support Each Other Women supporting women can create a more inclusive workplace. Reality: By celebrating our dual roles as professionals and mothers, we can foster a supportive environment. Focusing on "doing the work" ourselves to eliminate internal barriers, and working with others to eliminate external barriers, we truly can achieve the career and life success we dream about.
