On being likable while not shrinking yourself from Ami Vora
Hey Lenny Rachitsky .. What software did you use to make this video, it’s so cool!?
Great episode for women working in tech who hear we need to be "softer," smile more, be likeable, and yet push harder. 😮💨 It's impossible to please everyone.
Striking the balance between being likable and staying true to oneself is essential in both personal and professional realms.
Great podcast, Lenny, as always! I completely agree with Ami when it comes to strategy and execution. If you have poor execution but a perfect strategy and you lose, you haven't learned anything. You don't know if the failure was due to your strategy or your execution. On the other hand, if you rush to market without a well-thought-out strategy or premise, even if you win, you can't replicate your success. Organizational success relies on learning from mistakes and continuing to do what is already working.
damn this is super relatable. became a PM as a CS grad and had to become more likeable and less opinionated, then became a founder and learned the hard way the $ cost of being agreeable/non opinionated pre PMF. turns out it costs a lot not to be opinionated/intense as a founder
Toning down my opinions to appear more likable is certainly something that I struggle with on a daily basis as a very opinionated person 😅
Interesting perspective. I guess there’s a time and place for the different expressions.
Everything in moderation. Having & expressing an opinion vs being likeable are mutually exclusive.
This was a great podcast. It opened my eyes to a few things including the work of a Chief Product Officer (CPO)
Deeply researched product, growth, and career advice
