Meet one of your Mentors Mark Dick 🌟 Over 15+ years Mark has built and led successful Sales & GTM teams at a plethora of Software companies from LinkedIn, Healthengine and the Aussie success story that is Go1 to most recently taking the reigns at Klaviyo! We sat down with Mark and asked him some questions about his journey through sales, check out the answers below 👇 How did you land your first job in Tech Sales? 👀 My whole career has been orientated in sales across diverse industry sectors before eventually landing in tech sales. It supports one of my beliefs that sales skills are transferable across industry sectors. I landed in tech via my time in media, specifically digital media at a time when social networks were becoming the new thing so for me, it was a natural progression to transition into social networks which introduced me to SaaS. From there, I have remained in the tech sector. What advice would you give your younger self for success in Sales? 💜 The biggest piece of advice to my younger self would be to understand that sales and more specifically how people buy are changing rapidly due to easy access to information and the ability to try products at no cost has increased. So to be successful you have to continually understand buyer motivations and make sure you can demonstrate what impact you will have for the buyer and the company they are purchasing a solution or product for to make sure it's going to be a good fit and of value to them. What key traits do you consider crucial for successful Sales professionals? 🙌 Two of the biggest traits I look for in any salesperson are curiosity and communication skills. Being curious helps you better understand what customers need and good communication skills enable you to translate complex products into easy-to-understand solutions. Any tips for individuals aspiring to start a career in Tech Sales? 🫶 If you are interested in it, give it a try when you get the opportunity. Simple as that. It's not for everybody but you'll never know till you give it a go. When not immersed in leadership and work, where would your network expect to find you? 👨👩👧👦 You'll find me spending quality time with my kids at the local park or beach. #mentoring #coaching #training #sales #software #saas #sdr #bdr #ae #bdm #leadership
