I am extremely honored to be selected for the Air Force C4 Association Cyberspace Operations & Support Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes Airmen and Guardians for lasting accomplishments both during their Air Force/Space Force career as well as since. I am thankful for this recognition and have been fortunate being surrounded by many, many mentors and coaches of all ranks in and out of uniform that helped me find my way and encouraged me to take bold thoughtful actions and make meaningful contributions. Many thanks to my longtime friend, colleague and coach Col (ret) Linda McMahon for nominating me.   The Hall of Fame was established by the United States Air Force in 1999 to recognize those who contributed high standards of excellence in accomplishing the Air Force #mission recognizing unprecedented contributions, sustained excellence in leadership, and significant accomplishments in driving unique warfighting capabilities. It is humbling to be joining a group of visionaries, pioneers, who have paved the way for many others to make significant contributions to the betterment of the Air Force toward a technological and information-enabled future. Congratulations to the other selectees, General (Ret) William Bill Bender, SES-5 (Ret) Spain Woodrow “Woody” Hall, Jr., Col (Ret) Hubert Walker, and Lt Col (Ret) Vanessa Johnson (”VJ”). I'm humbled to be in their selection class and join the list of prior inductees.   I will not stop here. It has been a passion of mine to drive programs that take care of our military members and their families, and to help prepare the next generations to bring needed leadership and skills for our military and nation. I’ve enjoyed participating in several boards that make that happen. And I will continue to bring my experience in the Air Force, and now a decade+ of experience at AT&T, to helping improve the United States Department of Defense. I have a deeper understanding and perspective of how industry can help the #DoD execute on its mission using commercial technologies, but it’s going to take some bold steps. Information & Decision Superiority will only be fully realized when the DoD leverages the #innovation, #investment, and partnerships of the #private sector to rapidly evolve legacy technologies and approaches to maintain our Nation’s advantage around the globe. Something pretty fantastic happened yesterday. For the first time … maybe ever … leaders from over 30 companies and #government gathered at the University of Texas at Dallas to discuss strategy and key milestones for the #ACCoRD Consortium. It was an amazing room full of the biggest brains in the market bringing their personal and corporate expertise to drive Open RAN under a #NTIA grant from the Wireless Innovation Fund.   What’s ACCoRD? AT&T and Verizon have come together to create the Acceleration of Compatibility and Commercialization for Open RAN Deployments Consortium (ACCoRD) bringing a broad membership that includes not only AT&T and Verizon, but also NTT DOCOMO, Jio and a wide range of OEMs supporting the adoption of interoperable infrastructure in #wireless #networks around the globe.   Thank you to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for your leadership in this initiative and thanks to The University of Texas at Dallas and Fujitsu for hosting this event. Thank you as well to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for lending your expertise to tackling this. And thank you to the ACCoRD member companies for your commitment and supporting this event. Talk about playing from the rough! While Ben Stiller and Jordan Spieth demonstrated this epic bad golf day use case that aired during the #Masters today, the vast #military uses cases are staggering and compelling (the military knows rough!). AST SpaceMobile and AT&T have demonstrated broadband from space to everyday devices, and are gearing up to make this service available at scale as a cell plan add on.
