Hi friends,
Unfortunately yesterday I was one of the many talented journalists at The Messenger kicked to the curb when notified via the NYT article that we were being shut down indefinitely. I've worked in entertainment news for over 15 years and pride myself on being nice, trustworthy, transparent, hard working and connected. I took a chance leaving a job I loved at PEOPLE for an editor title and brought in some amazing stories (I'm the gal behind Taylor and Travis dating being broken!) and am really proud of my work there. I love interviewing and story telling, covering events, and connecting with you all "on and off the field" to work together to get our jobs done. Whenever someone asks why they should hire me, I say it's simple -- My rolodex! I've always got someone! If you are looking for an entertainment journalist freelancer or help with your carpets, talent, etc. I have experience on both sides of the rope. I'd love full-time, but freelance for now is totally fine. And please pitch me -- I know some great outlets out there who may be interested! My line is always open.
For those of you who are not being kind to The Messenger, please think twice. This team of journalists and editors were the nicest group of people I've ever worked with. Please don't reach out to me to gossip or give my number out to some salacious journalist who wants to make us feel even worse now. We are proud of the work WE did. We have nothing to do with what happened. In fact, because of us, it lasted longer. Lift us up. Put yourself in our shoes. It's tough out there.
If you'd like to chat -- lanaebrody@gmail.com or send me a DM here. This is such a hard time for our industry and I'm thinking of anyone who's been put in a position they don't want to be in right now.
Thankful for this group of people and hoping to work with you all soon
Congratulations!!!
