We're back with our annual Marketing Brew Summit in September! And there's tons of ways you can get involved depending upon who you are: ° If you're a marketer trying to level up, stay on top of emerging trends, connect with others in your industry and, dare I say, have FUN at an event — get a ticket and come hang with us at The Times Center on September 12th. ° If you're a company that has sponsorship dollars to deploy and you want to activate in front of a senior marketing audience in a unique way, DMs open! We have a few incredible sponsors locked in already and have some fun activations to be announced soon & would love to get you in the mix. ° And finally, if you aren't in NYC (although flying in would be worth it...) stay tuned because we will have livestream tickets going on sale soon. See you all there! More details in comments.

HOT TAKE: Being a "generalist" doesn't mean you're not actively trying to become world class at a specific role or skill. Instead, it's a different (and possibly more effective) strategy at becoming world class. Traditionally, if you're trying to become great at X, then you'd solely do X. Over and over and over again. Until you're great. Think Malcom Gladwell's 10,000 hours. With a generalist framework, you're still trying to become great at X. But you recognize that sometimes it's combining practicing X while also practicing Y and Z that ends in a combination that actually makes you better at X. The most brilliant people I know are whip smart about one thing, for sure — but it's their understanding of other fields or their complementary skills that truly make them great.

Got a ton of thoughtful notes from people who listened to my episode of Alex Lieberman's Founder's Journal last month. I talked about career pivots. Here's my advice: ° Use side projects to create credibility ° Have more experiences outside your comfort zone ° Don't forget your weak ties; this is where opportunity lives ° Write AKA turn what you know into something you can show ° Embrace the beginner's mindset ° Get great at storytelling Episode link (12 minutes) that has full context for this advice in the comments
