The World Beer Cup is over and that was a blast to judge with so many experts! Here are some stats worth sharing:   - 329 medals awarded out of 9300 entries gives you 3.5% chances of success. - 19 countries out of 50 got medals - 66 medals were awarded to countries outside of USA. That’s 79.9% of the medals for USA. - Only 1 of the 110  categories had no gold: Belgian style Ale or French Style Ale - The Juicy/Hazy IPA category had 326 entries giving you a probably for medal of 0.92% - The South German-Style Bernsteinfarbenes Weizen category only had 14 entries giving you 21% chances of medal. - Germany collected 12 medals, all in German classic styles - Italy brews the best English Ale, Netherland brews the best Belgian Dubbel and Mexico brews the best Kolsch - Medal split: Asia: 14 Europe: 18 South America: 9 Middle America: 4 North America: 280  Oceania: 4 Africa: 0   Bottom line and beyond statistics, if you want to win: #1. You must participate #2. You must send a fantastic beer with the highest freshness potential #3. You need to put it in the right category  

A (Penalty) Shot in the Arm for the UK On Trade! It was certainly a real nail biter in the final minutes of England’s quarter final game against Switzerland on Saturday 6th July 2024. Ending up in an all-important penalty shoot-out after extra time had been exhausted, England’s ultimate success brought genuine elation to the country and to the On Trade in particular, as sales of Draught Beer and Cider soared an amazing +37.5% vs. the same Saturday in 2023 and an impressive +30% compared to an average Saturday so far in 2024. England fans sank an incredible 18.6 million pints as they watch England vs. Switzerland in packed pubs around the country - an additional 7.2m pints vs. the last round game against Slovakia. The average pub served 491 pints of draught beer and cider generating an extra revenue of £636 per pub and an extra 134 pints served compared to 2023, with every single draught category growing vs. 2023. CGA by NIQ's Daily Drinks Tracker reveals that On Premise drinks sales increased by 3% in the week —making it eight weeks of growth out of nine for the tracker. The rugby and high temperatures helped make LAD categories the biggest winners of the week, particularly with a remarkable 13% year-on-year increase in cider sales. Sport also had a positive impact on beer sales, with a 66% increase in Scotland on Thursday as the men’s football team took on Spain in a Euros qualifier, while Wales saw a 41% increase in trading due to the Rugby World Cup quarter-final match against Argentina.
