Smoke-free 20-yrs but this is why I almost lit up a cigarette on the 4th of July... Teenagers 😢. Fireworks frick’n everywhere. That's expected, but I forgot it’s a landing distraction for my daughters first night flight. She films as much as I do; but I'm not the one flying this rinky-dink. The cabin was hot as heck & I swear you could hear the bolts twisting thru the air. She’s calm, watching the fireworks & talking about Netflix while landing. I actually thought about a parachute. No, I didn't smoke a cigarette but dang my kids drive me nuts sometimes. Regarding teenage kids: ==>Does it get better or worse? Video: Daughters first night flight on Independence Day. Flew around the orange county piers to Disney. We must have seen a 200 firework shows.
No, I'm not a pilot but I figured after all these years that we've been driving her around that she can return the favor in a different way :) ... Even from the back seat, I see the appeal of this tho. It has a weird feeling of peace; when she isn't being a clown anyway.
Thanks for the discussion everyone. I hope you all have a great weekend. Feel free to connect with me.

I was never a smoker or ever tempted to… but I’ve got a tween that’s becoming “teen” attitude real fast 😅. One of the most helpful things that keeps me grounded and somewhat calm when my mom mental health is tested is 3 things: -I take long purposeful intentional exhales -I remind myself that she is just my kid, she is still growing and learning -I can take a pause, a break, and circle back. There is no active listening or lesson to be learned when we are in a heightened state. 🎆happy 4th of July landing Joseph Matulewicz !
Wow that's cool! I always wanted to learn, and started to. Then I got pregnant with my oldest, and looking at the pattern in the blinds made me nauseated. Someday, maybe. We'll see. What a great setup for her future, and such awesome bonding with her now. --- and, in some ways, it gets better, some ways it's worse. It's a phase, all the time. You just adjust 😉
Better, but it takes a while. My son graduated from ERAU Daytona in 2000. It took some work to get him there. I said that after the age of 21 he was ok. He has flown commercially since graduation and has a daughter that is a duplicate of her dad. He got payback. The two of them just completed a trip around the world (on airlines) as she goes into her HS Senior year. He wants here to see what is out there and not just the hometown like some of her classmates. She has the skill and ability to be a great pilot, be doesnt like the life, dad is gone too much.
You know that ANXIETY flips the switch on smoking. So next time you get the craving tell your brain, that's my anxiety talking. The other thing to be keenly aware of is that the Reason you Crave a Smoke is to get a dose of Nicotine. Nicotine creates a feeling of Pleasure. And at its core your addiction is to that pleasure feeling. Therefore investigate a nicotine substitute or other source of nicotine. Ask a pharmacist, your legal drug connection!
So cool and yet I can imagine...terrifying at the same time. In answer to your question...it gets better 😉 but I also have boys...so I don't know if it's different with a daughter?! This reminded me of when I was teaching my twins to drive...man the stress level was real 😂 teaching my youngest was way less stressful. It may be that he was a little more of a natural but I think it also could be that I had learned to chill a little more 😂

4dMy dad always had us athletic. He used to keep us in sports & the gym. One of the things you learn on your first year of active duty military is the saying "smoke 'em if u got 'em". So, if you don't smoke, you didn't get a break. ... I smoked cigarettes for maybe half a year. Even still, I felt the tug upon quitting. Those things are powerful.
