To kick off #ImpactDays, Franklin Templeton's annual global month of service, our colleagues in New York City – including Benefit Street Partners, Clarion Partners LLC, ClearBridge Investments, Lexington Partners, Royce Investment Partners, Western Asset Management – had a strong showing in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge. They ran (and walked) their way to the finish line, in support of a wonderful cause. I’m looking forward to seeing what our Putnam Investments colleagues will do on June 20th in Boston. Thanks to J.P. Morgan and congratulations on another incredible event!

It was an honor to participate in a fireside chat at this year’s ICI Leadership Summit, as we reflected on 100 years of the mutual fund, and celebrated how far our industry has come. As we continue to innovate ways to deliver investment expertise, the traditional mutual fund will always have a place in helping investors all over the world achieve their financial goals. Thank you Investment Company Institute for a wonderful event and Shawn Lytle for a great session!

It’s not a problem…until it’s a problem. While many view the $35 trillion national debt as a short-term issue, the U.S. needs to consider the longer-term ramifications. Investors will demand a premium (higher yield) to compensate them for uncertainty. It was great to participate in the “Global Markets at Inflection” panel at #MIGlobal yesterday, along with Charlie Scharf of Wells Fargo, Bruce Flatt of Brookfield Asset Management, André Esteves of BTG Pactual, led by The Wall Street Journal’s Gerard Baker. Next on the agenda: moderating a fireside chat with Dr. Condoleezza Rice, 66th US Secretary of State, and Director of the Hoover Institution. What an honor!

I recently had the incredible opportunity to travel to India, and I am still buzzing with inspiration from what I witnessed there. Among the many impactful initiatives I encountered, one stood out profoundly—the work of the Mann Deshi Foundation. Witnessing firsthand their dedication to empowering women and fostering inclusion left an indelible mark on me. On this International Women's Day, with this year's theme being "Inspire Inclusion," I can't help but reflect on the powerful ways organizations like Mann Deshi are making a difference. From providing access to financial services to offering skill-building programs, they are breaking barriers and creating pathways for women from all walks of life. The spirit of inclusion I experienced in India reminded me of the importance of championing diversity and ensuring that everyone has a seat at the table. It's not just about opening doors; it's about actively inviting and empowering individuals to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. Let's take this International Women's Day as an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the cause of inclusion—to amplify diverse voices, challenge biases, and create a more equitable world for all.
