Today we open the doors of our second Sporting Globe x 4 Pines venue in Surfers Paradise, following the success of our initial collaboration in King Street Wharf, Sydney. As we expand our footprint in Queensland, our primary aim remains steadfast: to create the best sports bar experience – where legends are made, and mateship thrives over epic food, craft beer, and sport for our community of fans. From Jim Cavill’s Surfers Paradise Hotel in the 1920s to the Hard Rock Café, this iconic corner of Cavill Avenue now wears a fresh, new jersey. With a state-of-the-art fit-out totaling $6.5 million, our venue boasts an epic island bar surrounded by stadium-style screens stretching over 40 meters in circumference. Our own working brewery, displayed upon entry, provides a flow of fresh 4 Pines craft beer directly to the bar. Accommodating over 900 patrons with 60+ screens, the venue is designed to offer an unparalleled sporting experience, seamlessly transitioning from casual dining to a lively late-night hotspot. I’d like to extend a huge congratulations to Mark Vigus and Brad Vigus for joining us in this third venture together in five years. As a member of the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO), I recently had the pleasure of visiting Parliament and engaging with policymakers on a range of important issues. Our delegation covered everything from taxation to productivity, and from energy to attracting top political talent. One of the highlights for me was supporting excise tax relief for the hospitality sector at the Brewers Association of Australia cocktail party. The pandemic has hit this industry hard, and it's facing significant input cost pressures. Through pro-business policies, we aim to aid economic growth and stability. During my visit, I also had the opportunity to reconnect with my high school colleague, Tom Connell, now a distinguished Sky News Australia anchor. His reporting from Canberra continues to impress. These experiences underscore the value of cross-industry dialogue. From our discussions, we identified priorities to support industry such as growing our skilled workforce and sustainable energy policies. As leaders, we must engage in shaping impactful policies. I encourage business leaders and the broader community alike to embrace constructive dialogue with policymakers. Through open communication, diverse perspectives, and collaboration, we can shape positive change, address challenges, and promote sustainable growth. In December 2020, our friends' son, Raffi, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Now cancer-free and in kindergarten, his recovery is a testament to the care at the Royal Children's Hospital.
