🤖 Did you see that Toys "R" Us has released the first OpenAI SORA generated brand commercial? Link to the Ad Age article in the comments with the video. It's wild. I don't get the warm and fuzzies from it, more like the heebie jeebies. It's easy to see that the quality isn't there yet. It's as the kids say "Mid." It gives power to every brand to have their own video production department of one to produce, so far, these bland creative pieces. So if every brand can create average work then that means we all should be craftsmen in our own disciplines, right? Plus, this possibly unintentional move by Toys "R" Us is sure getting us talking about their brand isn't it. Kids might actually dig this commercial because it's tech they are already seeing regularly. Just to put things in perspective, Generation Alpha, who are the target audience, ranges from newborns to 14 years old as of 2024. It could be that Toys "R" Us made this ad to connect with this generation, or perhaps they saved a ton of money and are positioning themselves as pioneers in the AI marketing movement. Here it is: the first AI-created ad! And WOW. I'm horrified. My uncanny valley alarm is blaring and my brain is completely shut off to whatever concept they were trying to get across. I truly hope other brands see the devastating backlash the ENTIRE internet is hurling at Toys R Us and shut down any and all AI-based ad efforts. Use AI for concepting, ideating, mood boarding, etc. Don't use it for the final thing. EVERYONE can tell and everyone hates it.
