Report from the Commonwealth Fund- The goal is to analyse the Hospital Global Budgeting model for Maryland, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Norway and provide assessment & recommendations for development of the the next- generation of these kind of models. The comparative analysis requires understanding of the nuances and characteristics of the broader healthcare financing and delivery systems for each model and the country. The commonality among all is that each of the payment systems has undergone major modifications since inception and are continually evolving. Population health and financial stability are key drivers for change and innovation. Key areas for consideration in the next phase include choosing the right services (and providers) as well as the change in the delivery of certain services/procedures that were typically done in hospital settings and not can be done in ambulatory care settings.
