Raleigh's #GoRaleigh transit system is taking significant strides towards sustainability by transitioning its fleet to renewable energy sources. With almost half of the city's greenhouse gas emissions stemming from transportation, GoRaleigh is leading the charge by deploying a mix of renewable compressed natural gas (CNG) and battery-electric buses (BEBs). Arcadis has been instrumental in supporting this transition, providing planning, design and deployment services for the electrification pilot. This initiative includes upgrading infrastructure to support BEB charging, with an eye toward future expansion. With the pilot now fully operational, Raleigh is closer to achieving its goal of an 80 percent reduction in community-wide GHG emissions by 2050.
