Prerna Dhariya: A Woman in Technology Leading by Example

March is Women’s History Month, and we’re celebrating #WomenofIBI who are making a significant impact in their fields. Prerna Dhariya , an Intelligent Systems Engineering Manager at Arcadis IBI Group in India, is one such woman. With over 5 years’ experience in the technology industry, she has emerged as a leader who is not only excelling in her role but also paving the way for other women in the field.

As part of the Intelligence team in the Technology Services vertical at Arcadis IBI Group, Prerna’s role involves providing technical consultancy services to clients associated with Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Her job is multi-faceted and requires her to execute diverse tasks such as conceptual and detailed design for ICT systems, technology strategies for ICT systems, feasibility analysis, developing functional and technical specifications, preparing RFP documents and construction management. Prerna is also responsible for leading a team of professionals who work collectively with her on delivering consultancy services to the clients.

Like many women, Prerna has had to navigate challenges and obstacles in her career. However, she believes that having mentors and building a strong network of colleagues and peers has been instrumental in helping her overcome these challenges. She also emphasizes the importance of investing in enhancing one’s skills, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies and being proactive in seeking out new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Prerna stresses the importance of having a good mentor and a strong network. She is grateful to have Harsewak Singh as her mentor, who guides and supports her in her career and personal development. Additionally, having a vast network has provided her with opportunities to meet new people, learn from others’ experiences, and gain access to new resources and information.

Currently, Prerna is involved in multiple projects for clients, primarily in the public sector. She is also a member of the Environment Team and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team in India, where she contributes to social and environmental-related initiatives for the India office. Additionally, she collaborates with colleagues in Canada to provide design-related services for their ICT projects.

Prerna Dhariya is a woman in technology who is leading by example. Her commitment to personal and professional growth, her dedication to her job, and her passion for making a positive impact are an inspiration to other women in the field.
