The launch of the Government’s Employment and Youth Engagement Charter took place last week, hosted at The Dock, Accenture’s R&D and global innovation centre.  The Charter is an exciting new initiative from Government, focused on young people and other priority groups, and works in collaboration with employers to assist people to enter or re-enter the workplace. I was delighted to have the opportunity to address those attending the launch, alongside Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphrey TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke TD, Danny McCoy IBEC and Frank Gleeson. Accenture is a proud early signatory of the Charter and I would encourage all businesses to consider signing up to some or all of the 6 commitments identified in the Charter. Have you heard of the book Empower Her ? It is a gorgeous limited edition by Linda Hanlon that captures beautiful photographs of women in modern Ireland, alongside their personal words of reflection. Thank you Linda for asking me to contribute, it was a privilege to be included alongside so many incredible female leaders. The book is a diverse and inclusive representation of women of all ages and backgrounds. Reading what these women have to say left me feeling inspired and optimistic, I cannot recommend it enough. As the dust settles on Global Economic Summit 2024, I wanted to pass on my congratulations to Enda O'Coineen, Sarah Murphy and Megan Cassidy for an incredible 3 days in the beautiful Europe hotel in Killarney. Accenture was delighted to participate as headline partner. We were attracted to the Summit, given its global nature and the level of ambition to tackle the big questions of our time including Technology, Climate Change and Economy, Trade and Globalisation.  The convening power of Ireland was evident from the stellar line up of speakers including HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, The Governor of New York Kathy Hochul and Yulia Tymoshenko, Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, all of whom I had the pleasure to meet.  High profile speakers closer to home included the Minister for Finance Michael McGrath TD and EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness. I was proud of Accenture’s contribution over the 3 days. From our participation on various panels, to the keynote from Paul Daugherty (Accenture Chief Technology and Innovation Officer), to the very popular Gen AI workshop and our Gen AI Studio. A big shout out to the Accenture team who contributed and worked so hard to ensure the Summit was a success. As I reflect today on my many takeaways the two words that I keep coming back to are leadership and courage. Myself and Denis Hannigan (Data & AI Lead for Ireland), enjoyed the opportunity to discuss ‘The impact of AI on businesses’ with the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment, yesterday. It was a stimulating and timely discussion. It was also incredibly rewarding to share Accenture’s learnings and experience in support of the wider public debate in relation to Artificial Intelligence. We are embarking on a period of significant change and transformation. This presents Ireland with a new range of opportunities to position for future growth and economic prosperity.  We know the journey ahead will not be straight-forward.
