Yesterday, Hydrock, now Stantec sponsored the Place North West Cumbria Development Update. Our very own Mark Griffiths, Associate Hydrogeologist, spoke on the Industrial & Economy panel. It was fantastic to hear about the challenges Cumbria is facing and the innovative solutions being proposed. I found Mark’s insights on utilizing geothermal energy, tapping into the naturally occuring sustainable energy from deep underground rocks, were particularly interesting 🌎💡 A brilliant event, and a beautiful location (pulled over to stroke these calves on my way home🐮)

📌 Today, the conference "Lithium Extraction from Geothermal Brines - Potential and Future Challenges" took place at the MASE Auditorium in Rome, attended by our representatives Joseph Bonafin and Marco Baresi. During his presentation, Joseph Bonafin, Geothermal Sales Manager, highlighted the significant growth and development within the #geothermal sector. He emphasized the innovative Vulcan project, which, through the integration of our Organic Rankine Cycle (#ORC) technology, will enable the sustainable production of #lithium hydroxide for the European battery electric vehicle industry. This process operates without the use of fossil fuels, produces zero greenhouse gas emissions, and consumes minimal water. 🌍 This initiative marks a significant milestone towards creating a more #sustainable and #environmentally friendly industry. #CleanEnergyAhead #MoveTheWorldForward #MHI #MitsubishiHeavyIndustry #ORC #geothermal #OrganicRankineCyclesystem #energycosts #decarbonized #co2emissions #sustainability #turbodenspa #project #energyefficieny #geothermalenergy #cleanenergy #cleanenergyfuture #geothermalproject

I'm grateful to the International Center on Small Hydro Power (ICSHP) for the opportunity to participate, as part of an international committee of experts, in the preparation of an overview on small hydropower sector in the Kyrgyz Republic. https://lnkd.in/dQn9bgE9 Since the report is published every three years, taking into account the collection of information and the preparation of analytics for dozens of countries, by 2023, in Kyrgyzstan, in particular, some of the information already requires adjustment. What needs to be done for the next release of the WSHPDR 2025 WSHPDR is an excellent reference publication for potential investors, decision makers and stakeholders to promote small hydropower as a renewable energy source for sustainable development. . #WSHPDR2023 #Smallhydropower

At HYDROGRID, we’re deeply committed to the global pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) - ensuring access to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy for all. SDG 7 is not just a goal; it’s a shared responsibility. Small hydropower, a clean and renewable energy source, plays a critical role in achieving this objective: 1️⃣Clean Energy Access: Small hydropower provides electricity to underserved regions, bridging energy gaps sustainably. 2️⃣Climate Action: Hydropower reduces carbon emissions, contributing to our fight against climate change. 3️⃣Local Empowerment: Hydropower projects create jobs and bolster local economies, promoting resilience and self-sufficiency. 4️⃣Adaptability: Small hydropower can be tailored to diverse geographic and environmental contexts, ensuring energy access for all. Our participation in the 2022 World Small Hydropower Development Report, in collaboration with UNIDO and Dalane Kraft AS, signifies our shared commitment to advancing SDG 7 worldwide. It’s about driving change, not just celebrating achievements. We were inspired to join hundreds of actors around the globe to paint a clear picture of the potential of hydro for a resilient energy future. Join us in the journey to create a world where energy is clean, accessible, and equitable, and share the WSHDR with your network as well! #UNIDO #smallhydro #SDG7 #smarthydro #digitalization

UNIDO just launched its World Small Hydropower Development Report 2022. Small hydropower (in this case less than 10 MW) will be key to contribute to diversify our energy matrices. While their initial cost is usually a challenge, multipurpose dams, with irrigation for example, and small hydropower combined with other energy sources can overcome this initial challenge. Moreover, shorter implementation times, and lower environmental impacts can improve its social acceptance. Operation and maintenance schemes continue to be a key aspect for their sustainability. In LAC there is still potential for this type of solutions. While some countries have already most of their potential, others have more than 50% of hydropower potential to explore. Planning is fundamental, including environmental and social strategic assessments, to select suitable sites, considering incremental impacts and climate change. From Inter-American Development Bank we contributed with two country chapters. Moreover, we share the message that hydropower, and small hydropower in this case, is essential for a diverse and sustainable energy matrix. Cecilia Correa Alexandra Planas

#FridayFacts! Northern Ireland has favourable geology with a lot of untapped #geothermal energy housed right beneath our feet. By exploring this energy source further, we aim to build up knowledge of the subsurface which will then allow us to harness geothermal heat and thereby reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, becoming self-sufficient at the same time. There are already areas of Northern Ireland where high-temperature aquifers have been identified at depth and the map below highlights their locations. By unlocking the heat beneath our feet, we aim for a more sustainable energy future, one powered by the planet itself. #Geothermal #GeoEnergyNI #Renewable #Sustainable Department for the Economy NI | Geological Survey of Northern Ireland (GSNI) | Tetra Tech Europe
