During my last trip to India, I picked up four books by Indian authors. Here are reviews of two of them. "The Power of One Thought" by BK Shivani explores the profound impact of individual thoughts on shaping one's life. As someone who frequently watches her videos and deeply believes in her views, I found the book to be an excellent reinforcement of the positivity of mindful thinking. The second book, "The Road to Revenue" by Avinash Saurabh, is geared towards entrepreneurs. However, I discovered that it's highly relevant for individuals(like me) who are building solutions in areas like data, analytics, and digital within companies. I particularly appreciated his eight building blocks: Specific Customer, Customer's Job, Customer Scenario, Current Solutions, Pain Created, Barriers, New Solution, and Payoff. Defining the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) is crucial for the success of any solution or product. "The Story I Told Myself" is an engaging piece of historical fiction that captivates from start to finish. As Arvashni Seeripat debut novel, it masterfully blends rich historical detail with compelling storytelling. The characters are vividly drawn, and the plot is both intricate and immersive. I deeply appreciated her ability to bring history to life through a fresh and intriguing narrative. Some of the lines I loved from this novel are: "Mama's turban is the reminder that she lives her own Dharma (lifepath) and her coat is the coverage she wears every day," "I couldn't remember when I started looking up," "Not everyone wanted to be a god or goddess; it was too hard," and "I wasn't a stranger to them now, not even stranger as he/she will be more welcomed." As she navigates through these parallel lives, she grapples with the question of what truly makes life worth living. 2) "Hidden Potential" by Adam Grant is a fantastic read, highly recommended. Some of my favorite lines from the book include: a) Utilize trajectories in evaluation—observing performance over time. b) Transition from brainstorming to brainwriting—encouraging independent idea generation before group meetings. c) Advocate for underrated and overlooked individuals - Message for managers to look at trajectories and open doors for new learnings/roles d) Enhance your absorptive capacity. 3) "Man's Search for Meaning" is a great book meant to be revisited time and again. #book #leadership

Book Review: "The Listening Path" by Julia Cameron Julia Cameron, renowned as an American teacher and author, is best recognized for her influential work "The Artist's Way". Within these pages, she advocates for a comprehensive listening practice encompassing our environment, others, our inner selves, our role models, and our silence. She introduces three practices: "Morning Pages": These serve as a meditative practice, urging us to pen our thoughts upon waking. They not only function as a form of meditation but also move us to action, awakening our consciousness. "Artist Dates": A weekly activity or visit to places that interests us "Walking": It's a tool through which we learn to listen to ourselves more closely. Some of my favorite quotes mentioned in this book: a) Listening is receptivity by Natalie Goldberg. b) Stop and listen. The story is Everywhere by Thomas Lloyd Qualls c) Adore the pace of nature, her secret is patience by Ralph Waldo Emerson. d) I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think by Rumi. e) It takes a great man to be a good listener by Calvin Coolidge. f) The most effective way to show compassion to another is to listen rather than talk by Thich Naht Hanh g) Part of being successful is about asking questions and listening to the answers by Anne B h) You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view by Harper Lee I) Good listeners like Precision Gems, are to be treasured by Walter Anderson. #bookreview #selfhelpbooks
