Every day is Earth Day at our sustainable resort 🌍💚 Our vision is to be the Caribbean’s leading, sustainable, lifestyle resort, and we have embarked on a journey to redefine luxury hospitality in the region. Our commitment goes beyond providing exceptional service and amenities; it encompasses a deep respect for the environment, the local community, and our guests' well-being. Our sustainability journey involves various initiatives aimed at minimizing our environmental footprint while maximizing our positive impact. Since opening in 2021, here are a few steps we have taken towards being a more sustainable resort: - 130,000 plants, flowers and trees have been planted creating breath-taking gardens for guests to explore, as well as a new eco-system habitat for local wildlife - Our 20,000 ft² greenhouse allows us to grow organic herbs and vegetables that we use in both of our restaurants, Breeze and Bobbie's Beach Club - 2,240 solar panels produce enough electricity a day allowing the resort to be almost fully off the grid - Two reverse osmosis machines turn salt water into pure clean drinking water straight from the tap Together, let's protect the planet we call home. #earthday #goldenrockresort #sustainability #ecoresort #caribbean #steustatius

Enhancing biodiversity in hotel landscaping is not just an environmental commitment; it's a holistic approach that transforms the guest experience while promoting ecological resilience. Hotels can further enrich their landscapes by introducing structures such as birdhouses or butterfly gardens. Layering vegetation with a variety of shrubs, trees, and flowering plants can also create a richer habitat and a more visually appealing environment. This stratified approach not only enhances the aesthetic value but also serves as a natural air purifier and improves the overall microclimate within the hotel grounds. Sustainable pathways made from recycled or locally sourced materials can be integrated into the landscape, offering guests a guided experience through these biodiverse settings. These pathways can lead to hidden nooks or scenic spots, making the exploration of the hotel grounds a key part of the guest's stay. Hotels that champion biodiversity can also seek partnerships with local conservation groups to further their environmental efforts. Such collaborations can include adopting endangered plant species, participating in local wildlife conservation projects, or funding ecological research. This not only enhances the hotel’s green credentials but also positions it as an active participant in the broader conservation community. Ultimately, by transforming their landscapes into vibrant ecosystems, hotels do more than create sanctuaries for wildlife; they forge an emotional connection with guests, inspiring them to value and engage with nature. These green spaces become a defining feature of the hotel, differentiating it in a competitive market and aligning its brand with the values of sustainability and responsibility. #Sustainability #LuxuryTravel #EcoFriendly #Hospitality #Ecogen

Chateau Belet declares its year-round castle hotel operating performance already includes many ESG aspects, such as environmental effect, social responsibility, and ethical governance, ahead of the European push to adopt ESG and sustainability, climate targets for hotels, and chamber d'hotes. During the 24 months leading up to the grand opening in May, Château Belet, a 15th century renaissance castle short and long term stay hotel, implemented new highly efficient control systems, heating, cooling, water conservation, low and no VOC coatings, recycling, and product recovery with key energy, conservation, sustainability product suppliers, and climate product partners Schluter, Schneider-Electric, Graff, Point-P, Delzongle. These activities were enthusiastically sponsored by our local village Maire, Dordogne Prefecture, and Dordogne Tourism, Les Collectionneurs. Energy use, waste management and water usage, community participation, employee well-being, and governance practices are all part of this to reduce our environmental and social footprint by taking simple yet effective steps while welcoming guests to their magnificent place. Installing energy-efficient lighting, programmable thermostats, and waste-reduction techniques such as recycling and composting programs already make a significant difference. Renewable energy sources, such as deployed heat exchangers are just the beginning as we also consider government sponsored farm solar panel production of the location. These actions will be noticed and appreciated by guests without the need for a large marketing campaign when they walk on the stone underfloor heating this winter after a day of truffle or wild boar hunts. Offering locally produced and organic cuisine we bring forth some of our own tenant farmed vegetables, promoting and participating in cultural and hyper-local heritage experiences, and engaging visitors in eco-friendly activities in partnership with the local and prefecture initiatives improves the overall guest experience while benefiting the local community. Furthermore, establishing fair employment practices, providing training and development opportunities, and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment can all help to ensure social sustainability. We have now already in this first year assisted three new entrepreneurs to begin new tax paying businesses. Transparent and ethical governance methods are critical for the long-term viability of Belet, with clear policies and procedures, adherence to appropriate regulations, and open communication with stakeholders are all critical elements, encouraging responsible purchasing and supporting local suppliers and craftspeople. Château Belet brand is devoted to teaching the art of sacred connection – to family, friends, the land, this place, its people, and, perhaps most importantly, oneself. #travelindustry #travelandtourism #hospitality

Today on #ZeroEmissionsDay we want to make ourselves aware of how important our earth is! That's why we at MESSERSCHMITT Systems focus on sustainable action: From energy-saving concepts such as guest presence detection to short delivery routes thanks to production directly in Germany. 🌱 Many of our hotel partners are already successfully putting these green solutions into practice: For example, they regulate the energy consumption in the rooms depending on the presence of the guests or, like Kulturhof Stanggass, use our sustainable keycards made of FSC®-certified wood – and thus reduce their ecological footprint. And the next time you're on holiday in a hotel: Why not take the train there? We'll definitely plan to do so! 🚂😉 #messerschmittsystems #hospitality #hoteltech #sustainabletravel #sustainability #zeday

The Emergence of Nature Hotel Resorts Nature hotel resorts have emerged as a response to a growing desire among travelers for more meaningful and sustainable experiences. These destinations, nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes, prioritise environmental preservation and often integrate seamlessly with their surroundings. From forest retreats and beachfront eco-resorts to treehouse accommodations and wilderness lodges, these establishments cater to travelers seeking tranquility and a deeper connection with nature. Key Attractions and Experiences The allure of nature hotel resorts lies in their ability to offer a diverse range of experiences that go beyond traditional vacations. Guests can immerse themselves in guided nature walks, wildlife safaris, or stargazing sessions. Moreover, many resorts curate eco-conscious activities such as tree planting, conservation workshops, and sustainable farming experiences, fostering a sense of environmental stewardship among visitors. Challenges Faced by Nature Hotel Resorts Environmental Sustainability Maintaining a delicate balance between catering to guests’ needs and preserving the natural environment poses a significant challenge for these resorts. Striking a harmony between luxury amenities and eco-friendly practices—such as reducing carbon footprints, minimising plastic usage, and implementing renewable energy sources—requires consistent effort and investment. Infrastructure and Accessibility Often situated in remote or ecologically sensitive areas, these resorts face logistical challenges in terms of accessibility and infrastructure development. Balancing the need for necessary facilities with preserving the pristine landscapes can be a complex task, especially when considering water, waste management, and energy requirements. Community Engagement and Socio-Economic Impact For many nature hotel resorts located in local communities, fostering positive relationships and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region is crucial. Balancing the influx of tourism with the well-being of local communities, respecting indigenous cultures, and providing employment opportunities while minimizing disruption to traditional ways of life is a delicate balance. Resolving Challenges and Moving Forward The NRDA has been established to help address these challenges that nature hotel and resorts face, by adopting innovative strategies. Embracing sustainable architecture, implementing eco-friendly practices, collaborating with local communities, and engaging in conservation efforts are some key steps. Additionally, technology plays a role by enabling smart resource management and efficient operations. "For millennia, earth’s forests and coastlines have kept us fed—and increasingly, travelers can learn to sustainably harvest from the land. The experience? Expert-led foraging trips. The practice dates to the earliest humans who had a fluency in the land and its plentiful ingredients,” writes Stephanie Vermillion in the May 2024 issue of Business Traveler. How are resorts incorporating foraging experiences into their offerings? “These days, resorts and guides are teaching travelers about both the art of foraging and the health and sustainability benefits of hyperlocally sourced cuisine” Vermillion shares. Kirsten Dixon, the owner of Within the Wild's Tutka Bay Lodge, explained to Vermillion how the Lodge’s foraging experience is unique. “When we’re foraging, you’re looking down a lot, so we have little stops to look up at the canopy, or just have a silent moment,” she said. But that’s not all… “In addition to scouring the woodlands for ingredients such as wild berries and spruce tips, Tutka Bay Lodge guides also lead guests on strolls along the low-tide shoreline to collect items such as seaweed and beach lettuce. After foraging, the chef hosts a cooking class.” The cooking class allows participants to see the fruits of their labor from start to finish and gives them the opportunity to share and explain their final product to other guests. Dixon emphasized the importance of respecting the environment you forage in and being mindful of sustainability practices. Vermillion writes, “Although the act of eating locally, especially this locally, offers planet-friendly benefits like reducing waste and minimizing food-transit miles, foraging does require sustainability protocols. ‘In our case, foraging is infinite and easy, but we do have a strict rule: Never take more than 25 percent of what you’re picking,’ says Dixon.” #tutkabaylodge #foraging #homeralaska #2024travel #reyacommunications #reyapr #travelpr

We are thrilled to share how the Riviera Maya is not just an example for Mexico, but for the entire world! 🌎🍃 Here, we showcase that tourism and sustainability can not only coexist but also enhance the tourist experience. At Origeen Greener Cities we aren't just leading the way toward sustainability – we are shaping the future of agriculture in the hotel industry! Our collaboration with Hort Americas México, Karla Garcia and the boutique hotel Dune, located in Tulum, stands as a testament to how innovation and sustainability can seamlessly converge. Through our hydroponic system "VPOT," we are setting a new standard. This system not only ensures fresh and quality food for the hotel's restaurant but also redefines how we perceive agriculture in the tourism context. By eliminating the need to transport food over long distances, we reduce the environmental footprint and establish a more efficient and eco-friendly model. Together, we are paving the way toward a greener future for the tourism and agriculture industries. Also creating unique experiences. 🥬🥬 #FutureOfHospitality #verticalfarming #freshfood
