Building Insights LIVE returns this spring!
On March 20th, netMAGmedia will continue its commitment to knowledge sharing in the construction industry with a round table discussion on the Golden Thread.
The concept of the Golden Thread, established in the wake of the Grenfell tragedy, the Hackitt Report and the Building Safety Act, brings some fundamental changes to the industry in the interests of increasing the safety of 'high-risk' buildings (those above 18 metres).
The Golden Thread results in a comprehensive building 'manual' encompassing vital safety information, building management protocols, and other crucial details essential for occupants' safety, but also raises questions of who should be the 'duty holder' managing that information (e.g. the new Principal Designer or Principal Contractor, or the client?).
The Golden Thread extends beyond fire safety, challenging traditional practices, and holds stakeholders accountable post-project completion. Despite the benefits of a more robust system of accountability however, the approach carries a perceived risk of its core aims being lost among data management discussions.
Our round table will gather experts to explore how the Golden Thread is being implemented on projects, including leveraging BIM, adapting to new procurement, regulation and professional roles, and much more. It will also address training needs and prioritising data issues, delivering project-based knowledge on this crucial area.
In the upcoming weeks, we will be introducing some of the participants who are attending the discussion, so be sure to stay tuned!
