If you're going to Gen Con, be sure to grab tickets for the 50 Years of D&D events there. They're all fantastic fun with amazing panelists. My top recommendation, though, is the Endless Quest panel I'm hosting with Rose Estes, the creator of the Endless Quest series of D&D pick-a-path books. Rose doesn't make it to many conventions, so this is sure to be a rare treat! Rose will also be part of an all-star panel of D&D tale spinners on Friday, featuring her, Ed Greenwood, Jeff Grubb, James Lowder, and me. Catch them both — and all the others too! https://lnkd.in/g8cfTPem

Happy to see the upcoming World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume IV topping Amazon's New Releases in Video & Electronic Games books chart already. My son Marty wrote the vast bulk of this book, and I couldn't be prouder of his work. Look for it on July 16!

I'm going to Comic-Con International! Better yet, that weekend UC San Diego and MAVERiC Studio are bringing Marty and me out to help celebrate D&D's 50th birthday at UC San Diego Park & Market. Starting at noon on July 25, we're going to run a Shotguns & Sorcery 5E live play that integrates VR elements created by MAVERiC. Afterward, there'll be a signing and a reception and all sorts of fun. If you'll be in the area, come on out! The event is entirely free — you don't even need a Comic-Con badge to join the fun. I hope to see you there! More details soon, but you can grab free tickets at the link in the comments.

There's a neat essay on the influence of D&D in Smithsonian Magazine. I'm still blown away by how RPGs have become this American — really worldwide — institution. https://lnkd.in/gBe-evtF

Hire JC!
I wasn’t expecting to write this post for at least another three years. I loved my content strategy gig at 6sense, a respected B2B sales & marketing intelligence company. I was killing it there. But an org restructure last week left me on the breadline, and I now find myself crash-landed in a place very far from my comfort zone. Then again, right here — this exhilarating place just beyond the placid bubble of certainty — is where Life happens, isn’t it? It’s where *change* and *transformation* happens. I’m looking for that in my next great role ... and your org might be looking for me. Here’s the need to know: I’m a born storyteller. I’m also a seasoned professional with a Swiss Army knife arsenal of skills that’ve kept my employers happy for years. I’ve been a newspaper reporter, a fair-to-middlin’ sci-fi novelist, an almost-famous podcaster, a snappy B2B copywriter, an award-winning viral marketing experience designer, a content strategy consultant, a biographer of X-Men villain Magneto, and a marketing director who personally executed a from-the-bottom-up reboot of an industry leader’s content efforts. I oversaw the creation of damn-near 1,000 marketing assets, surely influenced millions of dollars in pipeline, and saved hundreds of thousands more along the way by implementing generative AI into content workflows. I’ve led teams of writers and multimedia artists. I level-up young professionals. I’ve written or edited just about every kind of copy there is. I cook up crazy-ass, fun, memorable marketing campaigns. I like to move fast, ship fast, and get better, fast. I run a tight ship, but deeply value my collaborators and make every effort to ensure they’re learning from me (and I from them). So. Here I am, right now, typing far from my comfort zone. And I’m keen to get crackin’. So what do you say? Reach out if you think I can help you with your content and brand marketing. #OpenToWork
