Being recognized among this incredible group of 50 CMOs means so much more than an award. To me, it represents my core beliefs and the support of those who share them: ► Elevating marketing's strategic value by using AI responsibly and embracing our true north—deep market insights and the customer's voice. Marketing must be central in gathering and interpreting customer insights to drive decisions. We must not lose our way. The use of AI amplifies what's there—good or bad. [Related post, https://lnkd.in/gbd2wWt2] ► Evolving from Chief Marketing Officers to Chief Market Officers, shifting our focus from tactics to the strategic value of deeply understanding the market. ► Being team players who collaborate with the executive team and are willing to shift dollars and resources not just within marketing, but into and out of marketing to best support the business and its goals, given what we confidently know about customers and the market. ► Using AI responsibly to stay connected to the market, adapt to changing customer expectations, and drive competitive advantage. ► Upskilling and reskilling our teams, investing in their careers, inspiring them with what possible with AI, and driving adoption strategically. Anyone who's worked in a startup knows your role isn't just what's on your JD. Everyone mucks in in pursuit of the vision, which is amazing because you get to do stuff you never thought you'd do – but it's also bloody hard work. This is especially true of Charlotte Laing. She's just been named one of Pavilion's '50 CMOs to Watch' which is absolutely spot on because since 2019 she's been propelling Metrikus – something of a David in the industry – up amongst the Goliaths. She's not going to toot her own horn so here's just a few things she's done: ⭐️ Graduated from Head of Marketing to CMO ⭐️ Been a driving force behind the culture and running of the company ⭐️ Got Metrikus on the Bloomberg Terminal Ticker (!!!) ⭐️ Secured collaborations with publications like City AM ⭐️ Hosted cross-Atlantic events with the likes of ServiceNow, IAdea and Accenture (as we speak, in fact!) ⭐️ Taken on literally anything that's thrown at her with one of the growthiest growth mindsets I've ever seen BUT, in my opinion, her greatest achievement is the team she's built. One of our company values is ‘we make the best better’ which sums Charlotte’s management style up perfectly – she knows that a leader is only as good as her team. She works tirelessly to support us and help us to develop ourselves, pushing for budgets for training and encouraging a healthy working culture – little things like putting her yoga classes in her calendar so we knew we could do the same. No idea is a silly idea. I don't know how many times Charlotte saying 'ok, let's try it' has led to outstanding results. My favourite are probably our award-nominated initiatives such as Dark January (#TurnYourBloodyLightsOff) and creative endeavours such as the absolutely STUNNING Metrikus Measure coffee table book. It's been a tough few years, but Marketing is still a really happy, really collaborative and really productive team – if that's not testament to her work I don't know what is.
