We stand at a pivotal moment for cannabis policy reform. Classified as a Schedule 1 substance under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, cannabis was deemed to have no medical use and placed among drugs like heroin, regarded as carrying the highest potential for abuse and addiction. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) are gathering feedback from citizens in a once-in-a-lifetime review to consider regrouping cannabis with other drugs that have medical benefits —and no longer with the most addictive and dangerous drugs. This public comment period – now, through July 22 – presents a critical opportunity to shape this decision and influence the entire US industry. Reclassifying cannabis to Schedule 3 offers numerous benefits, including: • Acknowledging medical use • Reducing legal restrictions • Enhancing public health by promoting safer practices • Unlocking economic opportunities • Improving access to financial services • Reducing security risks • Increased access for veterans • Clear and more consistent regulations • Supporting overall industry stability • Supporting state-legal adult-use businesses • Regulating synthetically-produced cannabinoids This is a defining moment. Employee turnover is costly —in numerous ways. The impact of unhappy employees in the workplace through disengagement, lack of productivity, and attrition amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars lost each year. Poor online reviews from employees, sub-par workplace ratings, and negative word-of-mouth all deter potential candidates from applying to a position. Competition to hire and retain strong employees in cannabis is as stiff as the competition to put quality products on retail shelves. Businesses are taking a hard look at their internal policies to stay competitive, examining key factors that need to be addressed. Recent data from McKinsey identifies 6 of the most serious workplace problems: 1 Inadequate total compensation 2 Lack of meaningful work 3 Lack of workplace flexibility 4 Lack of career development and advancement 5 Unreliable or unsupportive people at work 6 Unsafe work environment Cannabis companies that take a proactive approach to addressing the top 6 drivers of worker withdrawal position themselves to retain great talent. If your company is losing ground to the cost and risk of turnover, reach out to engin today for a free market intelligence report and find out how we help your brand become a signal of strength through the noise of mediocre cannabis employers. #EngagementOpportunity #EmployeeRetention #CannabisIndustry #WorkplaceCulture #HRStrategy McKinsey & Company report: https://lnkd.in/g7_EFW2P

🌿 After a very challenging couple of years in the cannabis industry, we can now reasonably anticipate exciting times ahead. The federal move to reclassify cannabis marks a historic shift, with implications for both businesses and policymakers. By recognizing its medical benefits and easing regulatory burdens, this reclassification will unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation. 👉 Even given ongoing concerns about public health impacts and regulatory complexities, bipartisan support for cannabis reform is growing ever-stronger. Legislative proposals like the SAFER Banking Act and the HOPE Act demonstrate a commitment to addressing these challenges and advancing sensible cannabis policies. 💡 As a nascent industry navigates this evolving landscape, it's essential for businesses to stay informed and adapt their strategies accordingly. With potential changes to tax regulations under Schedule 3 and newfound opportunities for tax deductions, there's a lot to consider. From sales, operation, payroll, accounting, marketing, and hiring solutions, every aspect of a business will be impacted. 🚀 The engin™ platform is helping to position leading companies to embrace this moment of transformation. By standing out as employers of choice, attracting high-performing individuals across Indeed + Glassdoor, as well as Careers in Cannabis (the industry’s largest cannabis marketplace) and dozens of other major job boards, we are working together to build a thriving, equitable, and responsible cannabis industry for the future. #CannabisPolicy #CannabisIndustry #CannabisBusiness #IndustryInsights #BusinessStrategy
