Leadership. As a leader within your organization you have a responsibility or better yet, an opportunity to do something really special. It’s to build trust. Imagine not having the ability to disagree, form opinions and create conversations because you’re following, in some cases blindly. Officers in the #military are required to think critically, not just follow orders. I have an #executivecoach, Jeff Heilman, if you don’t have someone to challenge you and push you, I suggest finding a Jeff Heilman. We spoke about the dangers of having rank, title, or seniority within any important discussion or situation. He challenged me, made me re-think approaches and perspectives. There is value in having authority, but in critical phases of flight, in the brief, in the de-brief, there’s even more value when the authority, rank and patches come off and you can have a conversation. But you have to have the conversation. Have a conversation with any leader in your organization, chances are when opinions were split, something was discussed and decisions were made, risks were mitigated. Don’t be afraid, ever to have an opinion, and don’t be afraid to take the patches off. #westillserve #standto #leadership #microsoft Microsoft #CSFI #f18D #marines “No Rank In The Cockpit”
