While at Marquette I asked Dr. Lovell to be my mentor. In our first meeting he gave me a book- and over the months that followed we discusssed the seven leadership principles that guided his humble servant leadership. The Way of the Shepherd continues to sit in my office nearly a decade later, and I picked it up last night for the first time in a while as I reflected on this heartbreaking news for our Marquette and Milwaukee community. Days like today are my favorite. And I was reminded how the impact and path to tomorrow is a journey. It’s a full feeling. ‘Speed with discipline’ is the takeaway of today. It’s permission for intentional agility as we venture on the path to driving big goals and ambitions for our future as celebrated in an amazing HR Town hall to kickoff the day. And shoutout to Ginger King and her leadership team for a great event. I continue to be energized by the bold ambitions and opportunities of so many as we forge the path for a better tomorrow for our associates, the community, and ultimately our world. Rounding it out with connection and valuable time with my HR colleagues across the businesses was just the cherry on top.
