Excellent visual storytelling from colleagues at DTM! This work is so important as it helps bring attention to the largest displacement crisis in the world.
To mark 1 year since the start of the conflict in Sudan, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) produced an interactive Story Map, analyzing an entire year of data on conflict and displacement from over 7,000 locations across all 18 states in Sudan. View here: https://lnkd.in/e-9y5_zF Key Findings: 🔵 Over 6.6 million individuals were displaced internally within the past year, representing approximately 13% of Sudan's population. Over 2 million individuals were reportedly displaced across borders into neighboring countries. 🔵Sudan hosted approximately 13 per cent of all internally displaced persons globally, and nearly 1 in every 8 internally displaced persons worldwide is Sudanese. 🔵Over half of those internally displaced were children, under the age of 18 years old. Approximately 22 per cent were children under the age of 5 years old. ---------------------- #KeepEyesOnSudan #WithSudan #DataforAction Huge thank you to the incredible colleagues that made this possible, despite the on-going insecurity and their own conflict displacement: Shahad Abdelrahman, Almuzn Mohammed Elhassan, and many, many others. 📢 New Situational Analysis report on #Sudan Crisis is out! Data Friendly Space in partnership with iMMAP have released the first report on monitoring humanitarian conditions in conflict-affected Sudan. This report reports on the situation between August and September 2023 including background information and relevant data since the conflict outbreak. The report provides an updated analysis of all humanitarian sectors as well as a cross-sectoral analysis. Supported by funding from USAID, this project aims to bolster data-sharing, coordination and analysis within Sudan’s #humanitarian response in coordination with United Nations OCHA and the partners involved in the response efforts. DFS followed a rigorous Secondary #Data Review process where all publicly available data on the humanitarian situation is consolidated into a database using an analytical framework. We would love to hear from you on how you’ve utilized this report and what you would like to see further from the Situational Analysis Cell. 🗒 Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/dQtz-PQr

🌍 #Africa's involvement in #PPPs has been limited relative to other continents, but that is changing lately. The discussion around geospatial PPPs in Africa has gained renewed attention coinciding with the expansion of the African #geospatialmarket in recent years. According to a World Bank estimate, between 1990 and 2020, there were 491 PPPs in 28 African countries. The interactive dashboard allows you to navigate information in the ACAPS #Ukraine regional dataset on #refugees' hosting countries. It provides visualisations in the form of graphs and metrics on refugees' population figures, their conditions in host countries, and the #humanitarian response capacity in six neighbouring countries; #CzecRepublic, #Hungary, #Moldova, #Poland, #Romania, and #Slovakia. The Masterdataset on the other hand consolidates key indicators of the Ukraine crisis for the regular comparison and analysis of available data and the tracking of historical data trends and changes in the humanitarian situation. It puts together a variety of indicators on the Ukrainian situation and several pre-existing datasets collected from ACAPS and external sources. Access the dashboards here: https://lnkd.in/dJy9qWxt

Sudan in Crisis: Mapping the War's Toll on People I would like to share with you a comprehensive visual narrative I developed as part of my Visual Analytics course at the The University of Edinburgh, School of GeoSciences. Titled "Sudan in Crisis: Mapping the War's Toll on People," this Esri ArcGIS Online story map aims to raise awareness and educate people about the ongoing conflict and displacement in Sudan. Using the powerful storytelling capabilities of GIS, I have combined various data sources to create an impactful visual representation: Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED)- Highlights the severe impact on human lives. Centre for Information Resilience- Burnt towns and villages in Darfur. IOM - UN Migration Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) - Illustrates internal and external displacement. This project showcases the devastating consequences of the conflict and also underscores the importance of data in humanitarian efforts. By visualising the crisis, we can better understand the scale and urgency of the situation, fostering global empathy and driving informed action. 🔗 https://arcg.is/jeHWO1 Please take a moment to explore the story map, share it within your networks, and join me in raising awareness about the crisis in Sudan. Together, we can amplify the voices of those affected and contribute to meaningful change. #TalkaboutSudan #SpeakaboutSudan #SudanInCrisis #GIS #ArcGIS #ESRI #VisualAnalytics #HumanitarianData #ConflictAnalysis #Sudan #GeospatialAnalysis #StoryMap #RaiseAwareness

#Myanmar | New report: analyses the current analysis ecosystem in the humanitarian context. It also highlights the #humanitarian sector’s analysis needs and gaps resulting from the reduced operational space and consequent constraints on data collection and data and information sharing. Access constraints in the country are among the highest across humanitarian crises worldwide. Download the full report: https://lnkd.in/d4Vvw3bQ
