Democracy Prep Public Schools’ Post

Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the second Independence Day achieved in the United States. It is a day in which we honor the tireless efforts of abolitionists and activists who made it their mission to deliver the promise of freedom to all Americans. It is also a reminder that while our predecessors have made great progress, there is still much to be done to reach full liberation for historically marginalized peoples in this country. Here are some ways to honor Juneteenth: 🔸Learn more about the history and significance of Juneteenth 🔸Ensure that you are registered to vote and take a pledge to vote in the next election. 🔸Attend a local celebration 🔸Support Black-owned businesses 🔸Donate to and support organizations focused on civic engagement Remember, while Juneteenth is an important day in our history, it is more than just a moment: it is an everyday celebration. Let’s make it count! #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #DemocracyPrep
