Rice is a staple food in Asia, but it's a niche product in Europe 🌾. So, when we got the chance to talk rice at the ClimateHack Summit in Lausanne, I knew it was a big deal. Huge thanks to Vassily Carantino (CarbonFarm), Steve Melhuish (Rize, Wavemaker Impact) for an awesome panel discussion. I think this might be the first time three rice-focused startups shared the same stage - we should definitely do it again (look at the happy faces in the photo). It was also a privilege to finally meet Erika Styger (Cornell University) in person. As someone working in the rice industry for 17 years, I've been following SRI's progress, it is good to reconnect since my last exchange with Norman Uphoff in 2017. Big shoutout to our amazing moderator Sonalie Figueiras (Green Queen Media) - I heard through the grapevine (pun intended and tribute to the beautiful dinner on the first day) that this panel wouldn't have happened without you and Laura Hodgkiss' vision to bring a bit of Asia to the Summit! Thanks for having AgriG8 at the Summit. We really appreciate all the connections we made. It's a staple in Brazil too! Come over soon and look at the 200m-pax market!
It was such a fantastic panel! Thanks for all your sharing! #RiceRepresent!
Thank you for joining us 🌾 🍚
There's definitely lower rice consumption in Europe, but I wonder about your thoughts on the farming of European rice in places such as Spain and Italy? Are there similar opportunities for your tech?
Way to go rice guy!
